Grey Pneumatic (2019XMD) 1/2" Drive x 19mm Extra-Deep Socket

I worked as a professional mechanic for twenty years and have an extensive collection of hand tools. I still work on vehicles on the side, but do not want to spend the kind of money Snap-on and Matco charge for high quality tools. A technician at a tire shop recommended Grey Pneumatic tools as a replacement, and after showing me how well some of his two year old sockets were holding up, i decided to buy some of their products. I bought the 1708SN Axle Socket Set and two of their "extra deep 1/2" drive sockets". I am VERY impressed at how they have performed during a front end overhaul on an expedition, and 1993 nissan pickup truck! The sockets are very precisely forged, they show next to no wear, and even the plastic case the set came in is well designed and durable. I will keep buying this brand as i need to, and would recommend them to professionals and DIYers alike!

Used this to loosen and shift my subframe back to center. I think this socket is definitely meant for subframe nuts that have long chassis studs. Great to use once and just have it in the toolbox incase you need to do another subframe.

Most of the cars I work on have 17mm wheel bolts (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc.), and I have two of the 17mm version  Grey Pneumatic 2017MTP Socket  that I've written a very positive review for. I've actually only used this a few times (Porsche), but it's worked just as well, and I expect it to be just as good as the 17mm.To protect deep holes, I wrap electrical tape around the exposed metal and change it before it wears out. Only improvement I could think of would be to cover the entire length of the socket so that no metal is exposed to the wheel.

I needed an extra deep socket for a Ford CHT sensor. I thought this one would work but it didn't.This socket is very long, but it's not actually very "deep". The problem is that there is an internal "shoulder" inside the socket, which is just as shallow as a regular depth socket. So it doesn't work for those types of sensors.

When I purchased this socket I also purchased a torsion wrench There was no lug wrench in my older Alfa two seater when I bought it so this is the set-up I felt would work nicely. The scissor jack in the car had no handle and I wanted something more versatile and solid than a wobbly scissor jack, so I also bought a garage jack and jack stands. Now I think I am prepared for a freeway berm, semis blow by me, tire change. Thankfully, I haven’t needed to use any of it yet for those circumstances.

Worked great for vehicles with longer lung nuts

Bought this to be able to lower the subframe in my 2016 MX-5 Miata (ND). There is a really long stud that you need to remove a nut from and this does the trick.

Needed for ND miata Subframe nuts, have ended up using it for lug nuts now as well. Length was perfect for the job and has handled 100+ft\lbs.
