Not good for the wood peckers
Very sturdy and well built. I bought this after learning that the wood peckers like the mealy worms. Not good as far as a place for them to grip on. Wouldn’t recommend if this is your goal.

Good, with add ons
We got this originally for peanuts in the shell to feed larger birds, but soon found out they cannot land on the feeder because it lacks perches long enough. Since then we've only used unshelled peanuts with the silver sleeve down and we stuck a few long metal straws through the holds so all sized birds could enjoy and we're getting all the eastern songbirds feasting on peanuts including flickers, tit mice, cardinals, blue jays, grackles, nuthatches, woodpeckers, chickadees - it's so much fun to watch! This feeder with the added perches gets more action than our black oil sunflower seed feeders. I'd give it 5 stars if it had perches. It got very little action without them.

Birds ignore it, squirrels enjoy it
In theory, I thought this was a good purchase, but the birds ignore it for the most part. I have had it for a couple months. A nuthatch has taken a peanut a couple times, but other than that, if any creature uses it, it is a squirrel. It is well-made, although the little rubber rings that hold the lid down will be useless if a squirrel decides to open the top. For my purposes, I would not buy it again.

Be prepared
We put some dried "worms. In this feeder for the bluebirds. They loved it and I had to buy a second bag of these worms. I am really impressed with the high quality.

Versatility.
I like the sturdiness and versatility of this feeder and it was a third of the cost of my Brome Squirrel buster Plus (which I love). I can now offer mealworms and shelled peanuts to a different variety of birds and still laugh at the squirrels as they try to negotiate my feeder.

Not good for mealy worms
It really doesn't work well for mealy worms even though it claims it does.

Very nice and larger than expected
Direction included. This bird feeder can easily be adjusted to serve peanuts or dried meal worms to birds. The birds love it! Easy to fill and hang.
