Lava Lite 2312 14.5-Inch Neon Lava Lamp, Green Wax/Clear Liquid, 14.5 Inch

Poor quality, the liquid inside got cloudy after 2 weeks.

Looking at some decorative lighting, I fell down the lava lamp rabbit hole. I noticed many had surprisingly mediocre to bad review ratings. I didn't bother reading why, I just avoided them, and saw this one. I can say that it works as it's supposed to, it's not scratched or messed up in any way, and that the color of the "wax" inside is great. It's a glowing green, and as another reviewer suggested, it looks like toxic waste. In a good way. In a glowing, radioactive sort of way, without the radiation. The clear liquid around it makes for good visibility. I had a lava lamp as a child and loved it, and it just seemed like time to go ahead and buy this without over thinking it. At $16 I feel it's quite worth it.

This was kind of a fun purchase, but I feel like this product wasn't nearly as active as it should have been. After I accidentally knocked it over and broke it, I bought another one from Spencer's (in store) to replace it and the replacement is much more active and aesthetically appealing.

We bought this lamp for our son for Christmas. It worked great for the first few weeks. Then, the first bulb burned out faster than expected. So, I ordered a two-pack replacement. When the second bulb burned out, I went ahead and ordered a four-pack replacement. (That's six extra bulbs, now!)After changing that first bulb, however, the lava just quit. It never flowed again. And, yes, we checked the proper wattage (bought bulbs specifically for Lava Lite lamps). And, yes, we ran it for more than 4-6 hours. Nothing. I even got crazy a couple of times and touched the bottle after it ran all night. It wasn't even all that warm near the top, and I'm guessing it's because the lump of wax at the bottom of the bottle is insulating the rest of the bottle.I contacted Lava Lite about it. They said that since it's out of the 30-day warranty, I can ship it back to them so they can destroy it. Well, how about that!?Due to the lack of anything I can do about it, I've recently considered upping the wattage of the bulb (yes! Buying MORE BULBS!) to see if that'll do anything. It scares me a little, but this thing doesn't get hot at all. Has anyone ever tried that? How'd it go? Do you still have a house?UPDATE: I am updating this review right now because after I wrote the review, I realized that the product info actually says 90-day warranty. So, my son should actually be having a new lava lamp right now. Believe you me, I responded to the email notifying me of the 30-day warranty and how I was outside of it. The word "false" may have happened.

This is a very nice lava lamp. The color is great. Takes a while to warm up - as they all do - but works as it is supposed to. I bought this for a child and then did not give it as I felt it was much too hot for a young child. But I'm enjoying it.

You will find this same lava lamp in different colors with a different item code that have more reviews... and those reviews are not all 5 star, but indicate the same problem I had... worked great for about 2 - 3 weeks and then the "lava" just blobed at the bottom and no longer moved.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my nephew. I was hesitant to purchase after so many reading many bad reviews but figured I would give it a shot. Upon arriving I took it out of the box and turned it on to make sure it didn't contain "cloudy" water and the wax would move freely once heated. To my surprise everything works as intended. I'm definitely happy with my purchase but realize I may have gotten lucky.

You cannot count on UPS to deliver these. Lava lamps need to be shipped carefully with the boxes never turned upside-down. So far I've gone through two of the black base/green gel lamps and both have come in banged up boxes. The one I received today looked like it was dropped upside down from 5 feet. The UPS driver handed me the box and fast-walked himself back to his van before I could even say anything. As I was expecting, I carefully unpacked the lamp and took a look at a damaged lamp. Completely cloudy again. The liquid is suppose to be clear, but if these get banged around, it causes the liquid to become very cloudy and very unpleasant looking during use. I'm sending this one back again and hope to get an undamaged product soon. I took 4 pictures of this disaster piece. One of the banged up box it shipped in, one of the glass base with extremely cloudy liquid, one with the glass base next to my daughter's base which is actually clear liquid(bought from Amazon too), and one with the lamp turned on showing that instead of having clear water, the damage done to the lamp caused the liquid to become a deep yellow color. I will keep returning this until I get a proper lamp. When you get a good one, they are great, 5 stars. Can be a bit of a headache having banged up products from UPS arriving though.Will be uploading pictures soon
