I’m new to working with a scroll saw. This is a handy book to have for guidance

I was hoping for more. More of what? I’m not sure. I just felt it was lacking.

Great book for a beginner. Information was simple and informative. Great reference book to keep on hand. Comes with simple patterns to practice with too

Very easy, straight forward step by step instructions. Please note this is not a pattern book. But it does have skill building pattern. I highly recommend doing the skill building before starting any project.

Had I seen it before I bought it I wouldn't not gotten it. I was hoping it would give me more info on actually how to use the saw. I talked about the different blades but pretty much says 'try them yourself'. I am a newbie I was hoping for a little more direction on how and why you would use the different style blades. It had a few pages on different types of sanders but again it just told you there are several sanders out there - not really any suggestions on the advantages of one of the other. There was some info on where to oil the saw so that was helpful.

You get a lot of info from this book. My husband can use it a lot. Tells what blades to use, and when to use them. It can be very helpful. A test page is on the end of the book. Its not very thick. The price was high. But if you think of all you get from it? To see it being used made me happy. I recommend it for a gift to users of this saw.

It’s Fox chapel, so it’s well done. But really more of a high level overview. Maybe a good choice if you are thinking about getting a scroll saw, but if you really want to learn how to use it, I’d spurge for Fox Chapel’s Scroll Saw Workbook instead which also has similar topics in more detail.

For the very new beginner, this is a quick, yet thorough look at scroll sawing. It covers some basic uses, different blade types, wood types, “how-tos” & even includes a test pattern in back of book to use as template for getting a feel for different line types using the scroll saw. Very basic, but very helpful for what I needed it for.
