Skylanders Spyro's Adventure: Whirlwind

My mother got this game for my oldest child for his 14th birthday. It is really hard to shop for children as they get older and even they themselves aren't sure what they want! My mother saw the game and three Skylanders at game stop and she knew immediately that she was interested in getting it. After talking to the assistant manager (he was the only one working at the time) she decided that she had to have it. The great bonus to this game is that it has a lot of different and wonderful elements. There is never a dull moment! The other added bonus is particularly wonderful for my family, my oldest son is more than happy to share this game with his three siblings. That is something that is not usual around here. They have all chosen characters for the elements that they like and they play those areas. It has been a great team building experience and it is teaching my children that cooperation is not impossible! On another note, even my daughter who has learning disabilities can work through this game with minimal frustrations. Just a little bit of help with the reading and she is off and running. I would highly recommend this game to any family. Even my husband who is a huge Zelda junky enjoys this game, and it gives him much needed quality time with the kids! *the game was originally purchased at Game Stop but the individual characters I have been purchasing from Amazon.

Just in case that didn't quite sink in.. RAINBOW BOMBS! With this Skylander you can strike fear in the hearts of your enemies by blowing them away with exploding balls of color. She begins with the aforementioned bombs, and the ability to create electrified clouds that stay for a moment before dissipating. I found these particularly effective at taking out enemies that you need to chase. As with all of the Skylanders, this figure is well made and looks really nice. So you get a cool figure alongside a great character that you can use in any of the three Skylanders games. So this is highly recommended.

My daughter often favors this Skylander. She likes the texture and size of the wings more than the others. I just think it looks pretty :) She tends to play with her Skylanders both in game and by themselves. They are great if you can find them at the regular price. You shouldn't ever pay more than the $7.99. Just be patient and they will become available.

And Open Letter to Activision, and anyone with a child who wants or has Skylanders: The secondary market for, allegedly, figures that are permanently discontinued and never again available in stores (Whirlwind, etc.) has $8 game figures going for two or three times that amount or more. And our kids willing to pay it (if allowed by their parents) because they've bought into the scarcity frenzy. I bought a starter pack/game for my kids three weeks ago and they really enjoy it, but they are also now of the belief that if they don't grab a Whirlwind, Stealth Elf, etc. now for twenty or thirty bucks they will never get one. Well, they're right. If the makers/manufacturers of this game don't nip the secondary market in the bud very, very quickly--by announcing all characters will again appear in stores to meet demand, and at the original retail price--my son's starter set gets returned to the store and we'll spend our game money elsewhere. I like the game, so do my kids, and I have no problem with them saving their money to buy figures at $7.99. But if the ones they want can only be found on EBay for $20+ we're done, and very soon. I urge Activision to fix this now, and all parents to join me if they don't.

This was my son's first Skylander. We got it for him because it, frankly, looked awesome. It is a girl character, but he doesn't care. It's just an interesting character and design. The girls like it, the boys like it. It's great. I hate how some games have designated "girl" characters that are pink with fairy wings and practically fart glitter. Those characters become forced on girls and avoided by boys like the plague. Yes, Whirlwind has a rainbow attack, but it's not overly girly. My son and nephews love this character as do my friends' daughters. Perfect for either gender and a blast to play.

Came with the stickers, card, code and figure. It came fast, the date said it would come Dec. 30 - Jan. 5 and it came Dec. 30 as I ordered it on the 25th of december. Figure works properly except it came without plastic in the front part which was kind of weird, but overall everything came and its very cool and works nicely.

I'll be honest I still play games geared towards a younger audience. Skylander's is lots of fun to play and has lots to offer someone like me who loves to grind/lvl characters.
