Chess Endgames for Kids

Excellent for all ages
All the endgame knowledge required for a club player is here. It is not exactly for kids but for kids but as said by the reviewer all the basics an ELO 1800 to 2000 ( Fide ) should know is here. This can be your only engame book i you are an occasional tournament player and do no find much time to put into study. Other useful books like this would be 100 endgames you must know by Jesus de Villa and Chess Endgame traiing by Bernd Rosen.

This is a really great book and not just for 'kids'
This is a really great book and not just for 'kids'. The principals are something all players can learn from. The style is easy to read and the quiz at the end helps to bring it all together.

This book provides an excellent review of key chess endgames both for kids and adults
I'm using this book to learn typical endgames that may occur in my tournament games. For each endgame type, it shows good examples in a way that is easy to follow. I'm also going to use to teach my grand nephew chess. I highly recommend it!!

Outstanding...
I don't know how many half-points I've saved in my life simply because my opponent didn't know the information in this little book. All of Muller's book and dvd's on the ending have been outstanding, and this effort is no exception. In 50 focused chapters he tackles -- in a child-friendly manner -- even such difficult material as the Knight-and-Bishop mate, the Lucena Position, Vancura's Draw, the pawn breakthrough, etc., etc. etc. He even manages to include pertinent test materials so the student may see what s/he has retained. It should be in every school library and in every chess club. If Capablance (who insisted that newcomers to chess should begin with the ending) were alive today, this is the book he'd be recommending. Chess Endgames for Kids

Best endgame book ever
There are huge tomes out there on the endgame by all sorts of Grandmasters. You buy em but you never read them. This book is simple, educational and you read it without effort. Without trying you are learning.

I have found this book explains the principle of endgames ...
I have found this book explains the principle of endgames clearly. So far, I am working through it and finding out how to make the correct moves according to the endgame situation.

Not for the absolute beginner in endgames
Despite the title, this is not for the absolute beginner. This book is certainly better than "Understanding Chess Endings" by Nunn. While Nunn skips the corresponding squares and key squares and dives into action for pawn endings, at Muller introduces them early and is a refreshing beginning. My qualm is the lack of explanations. For instance, in chapter 13, protected passed pawns, suddenly, a set of key squares are show and if these key squares are within the pawn's square, then the position is drawn. That's the explanation given. That was uber confusing. Now, am I to assume that there are a new set of key squares for this position? Pawn's square is the square we construct by drawing the diagonal? These questions may be trivial but for a beginner dabbling in endgame theory, it was frustrating, especially as one thing builds on top of the other. So went to Silman's book. His credentials might not be as appealing as Muller's but there are more explanations..
