Everything
This is a phenomenal little machine for the price. My old DVR was failing, so I searched online for one that would record from an antenna and, I hoped, did not require a subscription. The TiVo BOLT got excellent reviews; $126 and up; but required a modest subscription. I saw other possibilities, then hit on the eXuby. $29.99. I just laughed. What could you get for $29.99? Yet the reviews were fairly positive. And no subscription. Well, I had to try that, so I ordered it. The eXuby has no internal hard drive, but I like that. You can detach your flash drive or external hard drive and copy the .mts recordings into your computer if you wish, which plays them perfectly. This is also convenient for renaming the recordings, if you wish. So I ordered a 500GB hard drive for another $37. The eXuby sets up easily, and is easy to learn. It produces a beautiful picture, up to 1080p, with excellent sound. Programming recordings is simple. Some DVR's can record multiple programs at the same time. The eXuby records only one, which is fine with me. It can't do slow motion. But other than that, it does everything I desire of it. As I say, a phenomenal little machine for the price.

Super easy!
Talk about your simple setup! I just plugged in my Mohu Leaf antenna, plugged in the TV, and I was up and running. Channel Search and Menu Setup were just as easy. It also picked up 6 more channels than my old converter box did, although that seems more like a function of the antenna than the converter box, but hey, I'll take it. For under $40 I believe I just got several more years of life out of my old analog TV.I have to laugh about all the people complaining here that the time tracking is only in 24-hour clock readings. There's a very simple toggle in the setup menu that allows you to choose whether you want readouts in a 24 or 12-hour format. My only actual complaints are 1) it lacks one feature my old converter box had -- a 'freeze frame' button while viewing live TV. I found that extremely useful for pausing onscreen credits, which now flash by in a nanosecond. And 2) the box itself is so tiny and lightweight that the weight of the coax cable can pull the box off a narrow shelf. They could put some weights in the box to counteract that.Haven't yet used the recording function, and will edit this review after I do, but I do like that it records to both USB thumb drives and regular standalone hard drives.I also liked that 5 weeks after purchase, I got an email from the seller saying to please contact them if I had any problems and "we will rectify the problem and earn your satisfaction." That's good company practice.

The only converter box that worked for me
It's not fancy, but it works and no glitches. I tried five other boxes by three different manufacturers. All of them had software problem. One thing I learned is that all those companies seem to utilize the same software apparently made my a Chinese company. I had one box that kept deleting a particular "favorite" station I saved (the local CBS affiliate). Another box would erase the names I assigned to saved stations. Another would shut of the TV when I tried to change the order of the station lineup. Another box nothing seemed to work. So far, so good with the eXuby. One disadvantage is that the buttons on the remote are abnormally small, which is annoying. However, the remote at least feels more solidly built than one that came with these other boxes. Note: I can only speak to watching TV stations without a cable connection. I've not bothered with recording any programs.

A Great Value, Even for Many Outlying Areas (like mine)
This TV converter kit is a great value. I'm located in Prescott, AZ up in the mountains. Lots of hills and trees around so this is certainly not the optimal environment for this equipment. Nevertheless I have the antenna in my upstairs bedroom window, facing away from the center of town, and I still get 7 to 10 stations depending on the time of day. The quality is very good... much better than the old analog days. These are definitely HD channels. I'm getting a couple of great all-movie channels, old TV shows, old game shows, Fox from Phoenix via repeater here in Prescott and several others. Very impressive. I decided to get another well reputed (cheap) antenna from RCA, carried at Walmart. That has brought in more and different channels than using the default antenna in the box. As others have said, it's REALLY important to fine-tune the position and angle of your antenna (and the length and angle of the dipoles). Even an inch in one direction or another can make or break a channel in your location. So experiment patiently! What blew my mind is how well the DVR function works. There is no built-in storage for this, so get a good size USB drive (flash drive or hard drive) and you will be blown away at the quality and ease of use. Great online program/schedule for each receivable channel, too.Definitely worth the money. You guys that live close to a metro area will see FAR more channels, I'm sure. But for me... this is great.

Excellent product for cable-cutters
Works great, much better resolution than settop box (because nocompression is done on the signal). The only significant limitation is that it has only one tuner, so it can record only one program at a time.
