Hoped against hope, now grateful for what is left...
Although the frequency of Amy's onstage drinking is unsettling to watch (and would be even if she were still here), the performance itself is critical and undeniable evidence of her original vocal abilities. Even when inebriated near the end, her vocals were spot on, and her memory intact enough to carry on where most people wouldn't remember their own home address - even with their ID in their hand. It's said that everything is recycled, but the basic human endeavor/imperative is such that each artist, although an amalgam of what may have gone before, can stop time by focusing their individual filter and thus make a brand new reality. Amy did that with her voice, her ability to connect to her audience, her sharp sense of songwriting and, maybe most dangerously, her willingness to share what must have been raw and painful events set to music. Most of us can forget or re-write those times, and thus be saved by our own mediocrity. She apparently didn't give herself that bit of grace, and even selected songs from other writers sharing hopelessness along those same poetic lines. Singing these stories night after night was no cathartic exercise; it was pain on display the way people will slow down to view victims of a car accident. The differences were the originality of her voice and the honesty of her words.Nonetheless, this disc also gives a clue about how powerful Amy would've become had she granted herself the perspective of a survivor believing in love, with a heart made all the more precious for the battered scars sustained in growth. There will be other singers, but her brief time here will be remembered. Thanks for the legacy, Miss Amy.

Her reputation got my attention before I even knew of her music. One day I just got tired of hearing what a "bad" "girl" she was and set out to find out did she have talent to go with the bad rep.I was impressed. I love her style. She reminds me of a cross between Macy Gray, and Sade. She has that different vocal style like Macy's, and her onstage performance reminds me of Sade, though she has a while to go before I would consider her to be "up there" with Sade. And I must say, I've never seen a performer wet their throat as often as she did in this performance, but even so, I loved this concert and her version of "Love is Loosing Game" is the best that I've heard on her other recordings. I bought the single with the different versions of that particular song, but the one from this concert was not on it and I was disappointed. I really enjoyed the entire performance and I've watched and listened to it many times.I loved her band. Each musician is highly talented. Watching each of them was as pleasurable as watching Amy Winehouse. If she can manage not to be derailed by alcohol and drugs, I look forward to hearing more from her.

Wow
I fell in love with Amy at the Mandela concert in June 2008. Had only heard she won several Emmys, never seen her, was unaware of a single title. But she blew me away with her sheer presence. I was pretty close to the stage, but I rate her presence up with some all stars - Santana, Jethro Tull, Bowie, Hendrix and JFK - does that really date me! She is a great singer. Period. The range of music in her live concert is simply fabulous. The band behind her is equally fabulous and that is her musician recommendation. My recommendation is that I have watched her concert every night for the last 4 nights and I have only owned the DVD that long. I haven't seen the DVD to the end. Oh my and she likes Thelonious Monk - so do I. But I am caught up in the fears surrounding her well being - if there were anything I could do to help her I surely would - she is such a plus to our world. Would love to meet her - she exudes.

Will cherish this DVD forever
Amy had such brilliant talent with the most unique voice I ever heard. I truly cherish this DVD, the live music she produced with her brand is breathtaking. You will find yourself totally drawn into watching her performance, smiling as you wish you would have had a chance to be live in the audience. It is a delight to see her interact with the crowd, it is so clear to see how she was at home on stage , but deep down inside she was such a humble, sweet, kind spirit.I loved the DVD with the live version of her songs so much I finally found them for download on my MP3, since her death it is a constant playlist in my car.Highly recommend this DVD to anyone who appreciates Amys talent . Her kind of talent only comes around once in a lifetime.RIP beautiful lady ! Thank you for your honest music and having been there when I neededa smile in my heart !

A-MA-ZING (but don't mix the two)
This just came in the mail for me today and I was ecstatic because I already knew what to expect --->not only because I'd watched clips from it on youtube, but because I know the powerful voice that Amy has.And of course, it was amazingly incredible and I could barely contain myself the whole time. It's so incredible. But you can't mix the two factors of it ---> don't mix the person with the voice. In a respectful response to one of the previous reviews, I must say that I agree to a certain extent. It is really hard to watch if you're only watching it to see what a wreck Amy's life is. It's hard to see that and not feel anything. But if you can listen to her music objectively, from a stand-point of 'I want to hear great music and Amy produces great music', then this dvd would be perfect for you <3

quick read
Interesting POV. Moving words n emotions. A father's testimony. Timelines are revealing of Amy's sttruggles but no mention of mental health diagnosis. Seems early in life she had issues with impulse control and manic episodes? Then as she aspired to stardom had no comfort from anxiety a debilitating disorder. Perhaps her family wishes to keep private. Saddened by her loss of confidence n joy. Heart break for her family n friends, people like me who grew up with extremely talented mother who treated her demons from bipolar disorder with alcohol can relate to Amy's father and his loss.
