Beautiful and Inspirational
This is a beautiful and inspirational cookbook. The photography is superb: I could look at it for hours. And the recipes are appealing. I have been disappointed on a couple of occasions where the recipe wasn't written properly and some of the amounts of ingredients didn't make sense. Also, for the most part, they are not quick, as the author says she strives for in her introduction. All that said, if you have some knowledge of cooking and can make modifications to recipes that are not clear, then this book will bring you hours of pleasure and many, many wonderful meals. I wish Ms. Jones great success with this book.

Hands down Anna Jones writes the best cookbooks
I love pretty much all of Anna Jone's cookbooks. I have this one and A Modern Way to Cook, and I use them for weekly recipe inspiration. My wife is vegetarian and gluten-free so I appreciate how Anna includes notes on ways to make certain recipes gluten-free or vegan if you have folks with dietary restrictions. I've gotten this for my my mom and for my mother in law and they both love it as well!

It seems that each one that I make for the family is better than the previous one
Have tried a number of the recipes in the book so far. Each one I make we all say this is a keeper. It seems that each one that I make for the family is better than the previous one. An amazing thing about these recipes is that it causes no heartburn in my wife who has suffered from chronic, severe heartburn for years. These recipes are great and I am thrilled that my wife's heartburn is under control. It just proves that eatong a whole food, plant based diet really does wonders for your body.

Great ideas. Easy recipes to try. Cooking time for some recipes can be inaccurate, but overall a great book!

I am so glad I bought Anna's cookbook
A Modern way to eat is a wonderful cookbook. It is for people like me that love to cook and still want to be creative in our vegetarian cooking and this is where Anna's recipes excel. Her recipes work. Her flavors are bold. Her introductions to her recipes are colorful and I love all the personal stories. Instead of making mac and cheese, even a healthier version that uses butternut squash, you will find her Mac and greens a healthy satisfying replacement. If you want to move towards cooking more healthy tasty food Anna's book will get you there.

Not For the Average Small Town Cook
A NYTimes review of this cookbook indicated that Jones asks a lot of the average home cook. But I hoped that she would provide me with 3 or 4 really good vegetarian dishes that I could add to my go to list when I'm seeking a wow factor. I am willing to go to more than a little trouble if I know the dish will go over well every time I make it. But I am not zealous enough for Anna Jones. Shopping for the first two recipes, both salads, led me to 2 ethnic grocery stores, Whole Foods, and my regular grocer. I still couldn't find tamarind paste or 2 special dates. It should be noted that I live in the 4th largest city in the USA and I am not new to ethnic foods or the kitchen.The first salad took me over a hour to prepare because of the number of ingredients that needed to be washed, dried, and finely chopped or cut in ribbons. I ended up using use a bottled dressing because of the aforementioned elusive dates. The salad was complex and flavorful but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort with any dressing.I will try a couple more dishes and update my review if I change my mind, but I can't recommend this book to the average busy cook.I

Great recipes, all very satisfying
Great recipes, all very satisfying. Nothing too difficult in the book. Each recipe has a story above it, making this an enjoyable read. There are also sections on cooking and using different ingredients that will help you become a better cook.
