If I understand you correctly, you're looking for the inside measurement inside the 2 open ends of the U-shaped base. This measurement would tell you how wide of a chair you could use with this table. There's a very small, slightly rounded part on the inside corners of the bottom/closed end of the U. The inside measurement at the bottom is 26". The inside base measurement on the open end is 26.25".
