This, for me, is the best. It is better than other brands. It is better than their dark version. I use it in all sorts of recipes.

I have gotten the McCormick chili powder in the standard size containers for years, and it's been well balanced and not too hot for me (I prefer it on the mild side). I ordered this large container to save money and because I thought 'light' might mean 'mild.' I use chili powder every week for a spicy sweet rub for salmon. I made a batch with this, and I found it much hotter than the standard McCormick chili powder that you get in the small bottle in grocery stores. My salmon rub recipe calls for a 2 to 1 ratio of brown sugar to chili powder, but with this product, I needed to use about 6 tablespoons of sugar to 1 tablespoon chili powder to dilute the heat. It was pretty ferocious. Everyone's taste differs when it comes to mild versus hot, of course, but if you're looking for mild, steer clear.
