Absolutely excellent. Light weight, looks good. Our fire pit fitted right on it. Should of purchased this one first as my other two were junk. I can see it lasting many years.

This is a great concept and probably perfect for a wood deck but I wanted to protect my stamped concrete patio and was able to do so much cheaper. I had a new stamped concrete patio put in my back yard. I didn't have a fireplace built into it because I wanted the flexibility to not have a fire pit if I so desired. Instead I built a fire pit on top of the patio using pavers to hold up a 12" copper fire pit. My concrete guy advised me to make sure I had plenty of clearance (about a foot) to prevent the concrete from overheating and popping. With a 12" deep fire pit 12" of clearance would have stood the pit higher than I would have liked. I bought this planning to build it in under the pit concealed by the pavers. While I was waiting for it to arrive I did a lot of reading about exploding concrete do to fire pits/heat. I read where you're pretty safe up to 300 degrees. I bought a digital meat thermometer, built a fire in the pit and closely monitored the temperature. I fed and fed the fire but with my pit design just 7" off the ground I was only able to get the heat under the pit (with the thermometer probe laying on the concrete) up to just under 200 degrees. I was still a little nervous that 200 degrees over a long period of time and multiple uses could damage the patio so for phase two of testing I added 1 bag of sand. I put the sand right in the fire pit, spread it evenly and built a raging fire right on top of it. We entertained the whole evening and had a really good fire with a hot bed of coals and the temp under the pit barely hit 100 degrees... it gets hotter than that on a hot summer day. When this arrived the following week I sent it back unopened.
