Review: Eliminated pulling right away! - Love this harness. My dog never learned to walk on a leash, as we lived on a dirt road for 5 years. Now that we have moved, she needed a leash and was a 66 pound puller extreme. When she pulled my shoulder so hard that it took days to heal, I ordered this harness. What a difference! I used the front and back attachment, and the pulling stopped. She walked like a champ. This is a great product. I love how soft the harness is on her chest. The large was perfect for her 22 inch chest. It was so easy to put on. It is durable, comfortable and it fits great.
Review: I got the result I was hoping for - We have 2 dogs. A 4 yr old Siberian Husky and a 10 yr old Chow/GSD mix. I read about this harness and thought I would give it a try. My Husky is the worst, although both of them always seem to be on a mission when we walk out of the door and even though we are going nowhere specific, they can't get where we are going fast enough. They are in such a rush and super excited, that it makes the walks not so pleasant. Neither of them have aggression issues. I decided to try it out on my Husky first. Husky = Sled Dog = Pulling! It's in their blood --- that's what they are bred for, but out of safety reasons, I think they should also learn how to walk nice. Years ago, I tried the easy walk dog harness. Worked a little on my Chow, but didn't work at all for my husky. So I was a bit skeptical about this one. The easy walk harness still allowed our husky to pull sideways, and I never got it to fit right. The front would always loosen up after a few pulls and hang down and there was no security after it got loose everywhere, it also did not really turn them around, there was little to no control. Up until yesterday, the only way to walk the husky safely was with a prong collar. And I hated that thing, and I am sure she hated it too! So the harness arrived yesterday. She has a 27" girth and I got the L and it fits perfect. Sizing was easy. Putting it on was easy as well. And wow........... it looks really nice!!!! I got her the raspberry. Very pretty!!! Very sturdy material and hooks. So first impression was very good! So we just walked outside for a minute for a quick test. The neighbor was out with his dog and my girl did not pull to get there. I was still not convinced though, could be a coincidence :D. So a little later we were ready to go for a real walk. Did she pull? Yes she did! Not as strong as in a regular collar, but there was pulling. So what did I do? Each time she pulled I turned around and walked a few steps in the opposite direction. The harness helped turning her around to follow me. Then we turned around again and kept going in the previous direction. She pulled again, I turned around walked a few steps in the opposite direction, she followed, we turned back to keep going. Now we had to do that (I didn't count) probably about 20-30 times on the first part of our walk. She seemed a bit confused about what was going on, but she had a smile on her face and happily let me guide her. After about 20 minutes I think she had it all figured out! Pulling makes her turn around and further away from where she wants to go. Let me mention that she is an extremely independent and stubborn dog!!!! (Most husky's are and I know there are some other stubborn, hard to train dog breeds as well) For her, catching on within about 20 minutes was AMAZING, not that she is dumb, but she usually tries to get things her way!!!! I tried the turn around technique so many times with many different collars and harness and it never worked with my husky!!! If I switched direction she just started pulling in the other direction and we got no where.... I constantly just walked in a circle getting pulled over and over again and going nowhere! I don't know if it is this harness or just because she is getting older and out of the crazy puppy stage. But she can still be pretty crazy. I could not believe how nice and relaxing our walk home was. I constantly repeated myself telling her what a good girl she was and how proud I am of her and she just trotted next to me with a smile, probably thinking "Lady - shut up already" :D :D There were a few minor hick ups on the way back when she smelled something in a bush and she wanted to go check it out, but it was easy to correct her and over all it was pure awesomeness!!! I just had to pull on the leash a bit and she relaxed, turning around and walking in the opposite direction was not necessary. This is not a magic tool, you can't expect it to magically stop your dog from pulling. I would suggest to do what I did and walk in the other direction when they pull. You will have to be quicker than your dog and convince them that pulling doesn't work, before they figure out that they can still pull by shifting their body weight a certain way. So just start turning the other direction right away if they pull. I also don't know if this is the right solution if you have a dog with aggression issues. Its definitely sturdy though. I am pretty sure that I will have to practice a few more times on the next few times. I am sure she forgets what she learned :D, but I am convinced that all our walks will be nice and relaxed in the future. I will order another one for my chow mix now. He has a 37" girth and I was a little confused when I looked at the size charts. Sometimes the sizes say XL: 30-38" and sometimes it says XL: 30-36". When I received my L harness it had a tag and a pamphlet with a size chart. The tag said 30-36" and the pamphlet said 30-38". So I contacted the seller and she talked to a representative and they confirmed that they changed the sizes and the XL is now 30-36". I will also upload a picture of the updated size chart from 2 hounds design.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: We have been successfully using a Gentle Leader, but don't like explaining that it's not a muzzle. Is this a good alternative?**
A: They have their own brand of no-pull harness which I have had great success with. I too didn't like explaining that the leader wasn't a muzzle. A no-pull harness isn't the solution for every dog. I tried this brand of harness on 6 dogs (I foster) and it was not effective on any of them. 5 of them respond well to the Premier no-pull harness (same brand as gentle leader). Every dog is different. I would suggest going to the place you bought the gentle leader and looking at alternatives. Good luck! Also keep in mind that this style of harness can rub on the armpits of some dogs. I recommend no-pull harnesses to all of our adopters and one adopter used it on the dog they got from me and it rubbed his armpits raw after one walk. Another friend had this happen as well. These have all been dogs with very short coats (Boxer, Pointer). The freedom harness does have padding so should reduce this, but again, it did not work to help reduce pulling for me.

**Q: Is this harness easy to apply to the dog, or does a person need an engineering degree and a perfectly still dog to put it on?**
A: Very easy, but first you need to get the permanent adjustment correct then you are always good to go, even for a wiggly pooch. One of my std poodles often stays in her bed while I put it on for the park. I hold the martingale part, slip it over her head letting the chest piece drop down with the clips. Then I can clip one side before she stands and the other side when she heads for the door. I managed it for two dogs with an arm in a cast. Piece of cake. I highly recommend getting the leash. There is a video out there that shows you how to train the dog to let him put the harness over his head , but we never had that issue.

**Q: Is this a harness that can be left on the dog all th time, or will the dog be able to chew it?**
A: My lab is the most difficult dog I've ever had to walk on a leash , and this is the best harness that I've found to control her. However , I left her in my truck while I waited to pay the veterinary bill , and by the time I return to the truck she had chewed through the harness . I will purchase it again because is the best way to control her. If anybody out there has a better harness , please let me know .

**Q: How to measure to get right size I see that seems to be the big thing. I want to do this right. Thanks for the help.**
A: To get measurement for the correct collar, take a tape measure and wrap around dog chest area right behind the front legs while dog is standing. If your dog is like mine and sits just put a finger under the tape measure and use that measurement.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've tried everything...
*by M***A on December 5, 2019*

I've tried everything... and I mean everything. I adopted a 10-month-old German Shepherd a few weeks ago. Within just a few hours of bringing him home, it became very apparent that he has had zero training his whole life and no manners what so ever. This can be extremely dangerous with a 62lb mouthy, hyper, giant shepherd puppy that doesn't know how to walk on a leash without jerking arms off and stubbornly does what he wants when he wants. Even after three private training sessions focusing on the leash manners, his leash manners were lacking because he is stubborn and wants to do what he wants even though he learns extremely quickly in just a few repetitions. I've bought three other no-pull harnesses and they did little to nothing. He is underweight and still built like a puppy so his chest is narrow but very deep. None of the harnesses I attempted would fit him properly. So, with the advice of my Vet and the trainer, I tried the Halti headcollar which caused a massive temper tantrum and scene in Petsmart after his last training session. He will wear it but as soon as you want to lead him with it, he loses it. This was the fourth no pull training harness I bought and it was my hail mary. This is the first harness that has more ways of adjusting so that it fit him perfectly and is extremely comfortable for him to wear. His pulling is much improved. He still fights the harness but at least I haven't hurt my shoulder again attempting to walk him. This harness is fantastic, especially if you have a hard time finding one that will fit. It does work really well and Ripley is learning with each walk to not pull with the aid of it. So, kudos on that. My body is eternally grateful. The harness itself is very well made and durable. It is heavy-duty material with very good stitching. I have been using it daily for a while now without seeing any signs of wear even when he tries to play with it. They do offer a warranty should the harness be chewed up by your dog and will replace parts of it for the cost of shipping. I think this is a nice bonus. However, the training leash that is included in the bundle, while just as well made and just as heavy-duty, did not fare as well. Ripley managed to chew it apart and now I have to order another. All in all, I gave it four stars overall only because of the leash succumbing to chewing. The harness is definitely worth five stars for its comfort, sturdiness, and durability. I just couldn't give it five overall because I paid extra for the training leash bundle and got to use it twice before it ended up in pieces in the trash. tl:dr: I would definitely recommend this harness to anyone, even if their dog doesn't pull with the caveat of: do a better job hiding the leash than I did. It won't survive om nom nom noming on it.
