Lee Precision Decapping Die, Silver (LP90292)

Everyone should have a universal depriming die. All have different methods for brass prep, I prefer to decap and then clean (wet prime with pins), so the primer pockets and brass can be inspected before I waste time potentially resizing damaged brass. Will work on anything below .338 Lapua sized brass. Recommend getting Lee heavy duty decapping rod if you’re doing a lot of crimped primers.

Seems great so far. De-primed 7MM PRC cases with little effort. Primers popped right out. I think the key is using the right shell holder for the caliber, and making sure the casing is inserted all the way into the shell holder. I can see how it might be easy to break a pin or bend the rod if too much pressure is applied to a casing that isn’t quite lined up with the flash hole. Overall, I think it’s a good product for uncrimped primers

Gets it done and gets it done right. I purchased this in combination with the lee hand press so that I can sit in front of the boob-tube and decap brass while watching Jon Decap Janos. I have thus far decapped aprox 2000 - 9mm, 100 - 40 s&w 500 - 45 acp, 1500 - 5.56 x 45 500 - .308 win 100 - 243 win 50 - 30.06 and a collection of odd 7mm rem, 300 wsm 44 mag and 10mm the decapping die works great, popping even the toughest crimped mill brass with ease. as long as you crank down on that collet pin is held securely and concentric. There is no centering done by the die. it just depends on the case being properly positioned in the shell holder. despite this I have found that this is the easiest and perhaps fastest decapping die I have used. there is one thing I would change from the start. after about 750 - 1000 primers I noticed that the tip of the pin was deformed and slightly bent.. I proceeded to purchase the Hardened Steel Decapping Pin Upgrade from “Squirrel Daddy”. The hardened pins are a significant upgrade,they come to more of a point as opposed to the rather blunt tip on the lee pin. this perfectly pointed pin precisely aligns through the flash-hole and punches the primer from the pocket without puncturing it… POP! Anyway if this decapping die came with a better pin in the first place it would be perfect.. that is the only reason for me knocking a star

Works great. I'm able to decap multiple calibers of brass and prepare for tumbling much quicker. I don't have to lube the brass since it's not a sizing die. The pin is much stronger so it doesn't get bent on military brass with a crimper primer pocket.. I highly recommend for anyone who processes a lot of brass

A few months ago I switched from the walnut cleaning media to the stainless steel/water tumbling media. Much of my accumulated brass has been reclaimed from gravel pits and other back country spots where people shoot and the brass is left behind. Some is still pristine and there's some found laying in the dirt for years, some of which is too dirty to work with as is, let alone considering running it through a resizing die. Reloaders have different views and practices when it comes to the necessity of cleaning the inside of their brass or the primer pockets and that's their prerogative. A clean piece of brass is nice to start with. I purchased this die specifically to deprime the brass, prior to cleaning it with the stainless steel/water media as previously mentioned, even though it's an additional step. The term touchless could be used, except for the shell holder and the decapping punch contact. It is truly a universal die, I have deprimed .204 Ruger to 45-70 and .380 to the .50 AE by simply changing the shell holders as necessary, without a glitch, including crimped primers, using a Lyman All American Turret Press. I suspect the die would work in a truly progressive press to speed up the process but I wouldn't recommend or try it because of the wear and tear of cycling the press without producing any loaded ammo and the brass would need to be closely inspected to prevent any potential machine damage or dirt contamination. It's a high quality versatile decapping die. I would highly recommend it for it's intended purpose.

Tut was es verspricht und stößt Zündhütchen zuverlässig aus. - Mehr kann man nicht sagen, die Verarbeitung ist Lee typisch schlicht aber effektiv.

Handig ding. Eenmaal afgesteld blijft hij op mijn 5-station press gemonteerd voor al mijn hulzen. Werkt tot nu toe feilloos.

My ONLY complaint about the decapper is that it cannot calim, as it purports to be, "Universal". .338 Lapua magnum is simply too big to fit, BUT .300 WinMag, .44 Remington and 9mm all work beautifully. It decaps only, so the bras can be cleaned (especially using a wet process) and even the primer pocket gets clean. Resizing then becomes a breeze, and a nice clean casing is ready for priming without extensive rheaming of the primer pocket.
