Best Purchase I Have Ever Made for My Pool
What can I say? I'm beyond impressed with this robot. I have been in the "pool world" for decades. My family had a pool, my wife and I worked in the pool business for a while and we have a lovely 8 year old Doughboy pool ... but never in all those years did we ever use a "robot", I didn't know what I was missing!PROS:* The Price. I have been shopping for various units and the prices for "larger pool" robots were over $1,000, and at the price we paid ($849 - 5% Amazon Store Card Credit), it is a STEAL.* It Freekin' Works. Look, I love my pool, and don't really mind vacuuming it, but as the season progresses and more leaves and dirt get in the pool, it really became a drag to do it. I can say without hesitation, that I will probably never have to vac the pool again! When we opened the pool, the water was clear but there was some "gunk" and algae on the bottom. We put this in (Using the pleated filters) and within no time it was CLEAN* It Cleans The Walls, Water Line and "Corners". The one job I truly hate in the heat of the summer, is catching / scrubbing those pesky occasional "algae spots" that sneak up on the walls. This unit cleans the floor, the coping, the edges and climbs the walls to clean all the way up to the water line. SO far, no algae spots are in the pool.* EASY To Clean and Maintain. Just pull out the unit, open it up, empty the "basket" and wash off the filter panels with a hose. Takes a few minutes!* The Dog Loves It. Our Dachshund loves to sit by the pool and watch it work ... and so do I :-)CONS:* Wish There Was More Run Time Options. I knew going in that this unit does not have the bluetooth features the higher models have, but I would like the ability to run the unit more than once a day OR run a little longer. This is the only "con" I have so far!* Manual Was a Bit "Lacking". There were some questions I had about the product that were not answered in the manual since parts of it were "universal" to all of their units (including do not remove the foam circles on the cleaning roller ... this unit didn't have those ... and it took me 5 minutes to have realized there was an asterisk in the manual saying "not all units have these". Minor thing.Bottom line? If you are looking for a robot cleaner, do yourself a favor and snag this DX4 (or any in this line) and I guarantee that you will LOVE not sweeping your pool during the season!

Good little Robot
Been wanting a Dolphin but their higher end line $2000 price tag was too high for my little 15’x24’ kidney shaped pool. Saw their little Proteus for $680 and thought I would give it a try. Unboxed, threw in the pool, plugged in and hit start. 2 hours later my pool was mostly clean. Ran it for another cycle and it was clean. Only have to run it about once or twice a week now. The little basket filter catches everything even silt. I didn’t buy the caddy. Seems like a wasteful add on. I just park it on top of a short 2x4 on my back porch to keep the cleaning bristles off the ground so they dont warp. Overall I would recommend this robot. I have had for a month and so far it is a good value.

First impression: better than Polaris!
I just began using this cleaner today, so I'll update this review after a year, or at least after I've used it for a while. I purchased the Proteus DX3 because my old Polaris Sport 8050 (for which I paid $1,000) died after only four years. When I took it in to my pool store to be fixed, I learned that the warranty is only two years and that four years is actually longer than the average lifespan. The only way to fix it is to replace the entire motor module, which costs about as much as a new Proteus. The store employee actually told me that Dolphin pool cleaners are supposed to be more reliable, and so...First impression: (1) this machine weighs less than the Polaris and pulls out of the pool MUCH more easily, in part because the water drains out of it much more quickly. That's a welcome improvement, because the one thing I really hated about the Polaris was getting it out of the pool. (2) I like this filter basket better. You pull it out of the machine and then undo a snap on the bottom to let the debris fall out. Hose it off and put it back in - very easy! Without going into needless detail, this process was more cumbersome with the polaris basket. After one use, my extremely subjective impression is that the Dolphin cleans about as well as the Polaris did, for about half the price. Win!You do need to buy a caddy for the machine (at least I did - it protects the scrub brush from getting bent out of shape). And at $100, it's absurdly overpriced. (I also purchased it on Amazon, and you can read my review of it.) Whatever...I'll update this review after further use, but so far I'm pleased. I rated it four stars, rather than five, because I have no idea how long it will last. If this ends up lasting 5+ years, I'll come back and give it another star!Update #1: after about a month of use or so, my impression is that the Polaris is a better, more efficient cleaner. It has two scrubbers instead of one. The Dolphin seems to stop a lot and "think" about what it's doing next. The polaris also has a larger filter basket. That said, at the end of the day, as far as I can tell, my pool is just as clean with the Dolphin, even if it takes longer. At half the price, I would definitely buy it over the Polaris robot.Update #2: having now used the Dolphin to open the pool (I cover it during the winter), I can affirm that the Polaris was definitely a better cleaner. Last year when I used it to open the pool, the layer of dirt on the filter basket was MUCH thicker. For whatever reason, it just did a better job of "vacuuming" the pool. Now, having said that, the Dolphin did get my pool clean - it just took a day or so longer. I had to keep running it, pull it out to clean the filter basket, repeat, etc. Even so, given that this is (again) HALF the cost of the Polaris, I'm still pleased.

Works great, customer service is great too
I have owned this pool vacuum since 2021. It was recommended to me by my pool guy/neighbor. I have kept care of it, emptying and cleaning the tracks out myself. And it works wonderful! That is really difficult in my pool because not only do we have a lot of dirt and plants blowing in (pepper trees with tiny leaves) but we also have ducks using our pool twice a year flying south and north (truly not our idea).Customer Service is also great. I recently was having problems (first time in 4 years) and requested service instructions. They responded within 24 hours with suggestions to fix and with full instructions to mail off unit. I did not have to mail it because their suggestions worked and the vacuum is happily cleaning again.
