This Story is GOLD and should Never be Forgotten!
The interviews and the knowledge within this book are gold to those of us who want to better understand what happened thirty years ago.Donald Sadowy came up through the ranks of NYPD and eventually ended up being a detective on the NYPD Bomb Squad. As a former Marine, Donald had much of the skills and the mindset to approach the job. His determination and his goal of doing whatever he could to keep the people of New York safer from crime seemed to be baked into who he was as a person. Possibly the right man at the right time could describe him as fate delivered him to investigate the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Not only the people of New York City were grateful, but the citizens of The United States should be thankful that Donald was there with a resolute determination to solve the case and bring justice to whoever was responsible. He did that by risking his life to go down into the highly dangerous and structurally unstable sub-basement. It was there, among all of the mangled cement and debris that he found a key bit of evidence: A piece of chassis frame that contained a VIN number that led investigators to arrest the ones involved.Fate wasn't done with Donald yet. He entered into the South Tower on 9/11 and nearly died after being buried under the rubble during the collapse of the tower. He still suffers from the events of that day.Donalds career in law enforcement had him in many roles. He was personal bodyguard for U.N. Secretary-General Kurt Waldheim. He worked many cases with the Bomb Squad including the Abortion Bomber Case, the investigation of TWA Flight 800, and was also involved with global intelligence missions. In addition, he provided protection for Makhail Gorbachev and Fidel Castro. Rendered Safe brings us in close to the interesting and dangerous world of being a bomb technician and gives us a background, or a backstage look of what happens during these fateful world events. It tells of how all of these crimes of humanity changed us, and how it changed the life of Donald Sadowy forever.I decided to read Rendered Safe because of my background in public safety and my studies of the Criminal Justice System. I have the highest regard for the people who serve us as law enforcement officers and I'm especially grateful for the firefighters, law enforcement and others who gave their lives and risked their lives on and after 9/11. Donald Sadowy and this story that was told by Jeff Ingber should never be forgotten. The interviews and the knowledge that are contained within this book are gold to those of us who want to better understand what happened thirty years ago. Rendered Safe was very well written and the author should be applauded for making it available to us.I loved this book!

An American Hero!
Rendered Safe is about Detective Donald Sadowy's life of service to our nation. Over the years, I've been an avid reader of DeMille, Clancy, Thor, Cussler, and others, but those were clearly fictional stories. Often, I'd enter into the imagery in the stories which was fun to the degree such drama was probably based on a mosaic of realistic situations, but in the life I've known, they're just entertainment. Now Detective Sadowy presents his story. I'm from Brooklyn, my mother's parents were basically from Brooklyn; my Gramps would tell me stories of the old Brooklyn and I'd listen raptly. My recollections go back to the early 1950s, so you know my starting points. I immediately started resonating with parts of his beginnings. Then, his vignettes took me into his life experiences...I felt like a time traveler experiencing his history and extraordinary dramas. As his recounting went on, I was feeling his emotions and joys and sorrows and frustrations. I was merging with his experiences. There were times when I felt my tears of joy welling up for Donald, a real person, and times when I knew I understood the self doubt, the panic of being trapped, and worst, not being able to breathe ... haunting feelings. I felt helpless that I couldn't say any kind of prayer that would take back those experiences. I felt one with him, different than some fictional super hero character ... Donald Sadowy is a real person. Now the awe ... He IS an American Hero! Seldom does one get to vicariously live through the highs and lows of a true hero; this was so very special. I'd be remiss to leave out a heartfelt Thank You For Your Service. When I was a finished the book, I recalled an experience when I connected a volt-ohm meter to a voltage that FAR exceeded the range I had it on. The needle whammed to the right, hit the limit pin and wrapped around the pin. This story, this book, "Wrapped The Pin!!" for me. I will certainly be rereading the book again.

The Man, The Legend - but no Myth.
This book tells the true tales of a truly great man. His life experiences prior to joining the NYPD put him in the unique position to make the most of his stellar career. If ever there was the right man at the right spot at the right time, it was Detective Sadowy. His tale is told with no punches pulled and gives a unique and compelling view of the inner workings of the NYPD Bomb Squad and his experiences as one of its members. It is he who found the key piece of evidence that cracked the 1993 World Trade Center bombings at great personal risk to himself and the book described in detail how it landed him in hot water with the NYPD brass. His tale of his experience during 9/11 is a chilling one and these two stories alone make this book a most worthwhile read.I have known Donald Sadowy for quite a few years and am proud to call him my friend; he is quick to smile and always ready with a fascinating story of his life experiences. He is quite competent and quietly confident in his knowledge and abilities without ever being boastful or full of himself. I have stood spellbound listening to his stories of some of his experiences and you, too, will not want to put this book down until the last page. Thank you, Donald, for sharing your life with us and I wish you nothing but the best in the next chapter of your life!

Fantastic read!
Great read! The reader gets a real view of what it was like doing the specialized, technical and hard day to day work of a NYPD Bomb Tech, as well as the exciting life changing moments of case solving behind some of the major news stories the rest of us only know about second hand. Read the inside story of the people, places and circumstances behind some of the major news stories of the past 25 years! We owe a lot to men like Donald Sadowy! P.S. He found the piece of evidence that solved the 1993 World Trade Center bombing case bringing the perpetrators to justice
