12 Pack Reusable Can Covers Soda Pop Lids Drink Caps

After almost swallowing a stink bug (ugh!) and then a couple days later having the tiny red ants land in the bottom of my can of pop (yes, I swallowed some before knowing! lol!) I decided enough was enough. I found these lids and am sold! They fit snugly on the 12 ounce cans. No leaks around the sides. And best of all….bug free drinks! There was also enough for me to share the lids with others.

I will get to my point, eventually. We travel a lot writing a book on National Park sites. We are like 176 from the most traveled park visitors on earth, so pros. We have this Coleman cooler with little flip lid to get soda out of and love it. I am sure Amazon sells it. It will take fifteen 20 ounce bottles or thirty 12 ounce cans. Less the ice. So cans give us 20% more soda. We use frozen 1/2 litter water bottles to cool it and our food cooler (Igloo Cube). The thing about cans is most hotel refrigerators are way better at handling cans than bottles! We stuff the water bottles in the freezer for the next day. And if we need to we fill gallon ziplock bags from the hotel ice machine. Ideally we could drink from cans while we drive. But cans spill and slosh, they don't last as long, they warm faster, there is no lid to keep them clean and fresh, and they are tricky to drink from. So these and the foam can sleeves fix most of those problems. Plus the opening is large enough you can pour another can into it without fiddling with sleeves and lids or spilling. These fit perfect to standard soda cans. They don't crush while installing if you use a hard surface. The sleave keeps the can cool, and fits a car soda holder. They are easy to drink from, sort of. You have to get used to it pouring from the smaller can opening into the cover. Just back from a 7000 mile trip. The only problem we had with these were A&W root beers cans being too large. Coke, knockoff classic, 7Up, Canada Dry Ginger Ale all workked.

These work great for the mini cans but they are difficult to fit on the bigger cans.

They are very good for purpose, I've only experienced leaks because I didn't screw the cap on tight enough. Slight variances in exact size, leading to a snug fit on some cans and a tight fit on others, and it can be hard to put on and remove when tight... snug is elderly friendly, tight is most definitely not. As for durability, they're reasonably good, they've certainly held up better than I expected upon receiving them. They look pretty cheaply made, but don't seem to be! ...Aside from the fit issues, anyway.

What great products you have

This is the first time as long as I can remember I've given a 1 star review. I always felt like a 1 star is someone that is angry and not subjective, so I nominally disregard reading 1 star reviews other than the total % of them given. This time I really have what I think is a true 1 star product. These "snap on" drink can lids truly deserve a 1 star review. The plastic is very hard and they do not snap on the rim of a can, instead they "seal" on the outer most radius of the can. There is not a seal in the lid and most of the threaded bottle end have a burr on them so the caps leak. There are burrs in the bottom that are sharp as well is the inside where the cap screws on. Burrs in the threaded area require you to remove them if you want to screw the lid on. The outer most edge is sharp and serrated and can be a problem as well. Over all, these are made out of a plastic that doesn't work well for this application. They will disappoint you if you are expecting them not to leak like the one did all over my car seat. My advice, look for something else that is more pliable and let this manufacturer work out the issues and find a better material and possibly add a rubber seal in the cap to seal the liquid in. More development is definitely needed. I recommend sealing on the can rim and using a hard rubber for the lid or a seal in the top.
