Yes, the mounts are easily removable.I am quite happy with my Burris ff3. I actually purchased a second, of the same ff3, for my AR-15.The first, is on my 10-22.They are very small/low profile. All metal. Also, everything can be adjusted and batteries replaced, without removing the site.I am happy with both of my ff3s.

At a "typical" combat distance of 7 yards, an 8 MOA dot will cover just slightly more than a 1/2 of an inch area. A 3MOA dot will cover about 1/5 of an inch.
