Timelines of History Paperback – September 1, 2015

I love this book. The anthropological and historical timelines are so pleasantly and effectively presented with graphic illustrations and photographs that make you want to consume the entire book in one reading. It certainly puts the questions of who we are and from whence we came into vivid perspective. Another great feature, if you're using it for reference, is the convenient way it's organized making it easy to quickly find what you're looking for. I'm so glad to have it in my library. I believe you will be too.

This is an INCREDIBLE resource for anyone interested in history.Beautiful pictures, charts, timelines. Has saved me so much time ..... don't have tolook online: just look in this one marvelous book.

Boy, is this a great book. Superb structure, balance, and format with a great selection of quotes and illustrations, and I can't believe it isn't three times the cost for the color and quality of the pages. Along with timelines, there are breakout sections on particular topics of interest. Finally, the staff of DK publish with a certain level of authority that may make this a collector's item soon, particularly in the U.S. where history seems to be approached with a political and social mission. Get it while you can.

Once in a while on a weekend and over a 6 month period, I went to several different BN bookstores to take a look at all the different pictorial world history books (I also went to the library to see what they had). There's a good selection of these books out there and most everyone can probably find a format that suits his or hers individual taste. After looking at these books here at Amazon, and if you're still having troubles deciding on which format to go with, the only other option would be to go to a bookstore and physically take a look at the different formats. I finally decided to go with this DK book as I was leaning towards a history book that was in chronological order (that way I could quickly flip to a certain point in time to see what was going on [before and after a particular point in time]). Each page has a timeline across the bottom (with significant points of interest mentioned). I'm planning on using this book later-on to add some of my own notes and annotations as I read other 'textual based' history books. I'm hoping that will help me remember additional things about history and what I have read about history. Our library had a reference book called the Chronicle of World History (which I missed when looking online). Amazon also sells it and it doesn't cost that much. That book is also arranged in chronological order, has pictures, and all the articles reads like a newspaper.

This is just one of several DK books I have.They make great books where you want to gain knowledge of a topic with great visuals, great descriptions, and great coverage.Buy DK books about things you are interested in. It is a great reference and a great way to find out if you are interested in more about that topic.Yes, I know I said great a lot. Oh well. It describes what I feel. ;-)

Literally a Timeline on the bottom of the pages with the rest of the pages above explaining in the simplest manner of each historic moments. A worthy buy if you happen to be lazy to look up into lets just say "the whole history of mankind". Each historic events that led to who we are, why we do this, and pretty much what is what. It doesn't go into specific details of every events but it gives brief and just enough information of what we should know. I've bought this book in purpose of really getting down to know where we came from and how everything came to be (that should be your purpose of buying the book). When you want to get into specific details of a historic moment, civilization, and etc, you would definitely need to do more research from other sources.

A Top Timeline book of World History. A beautifully designed coffee table book; and an impressive one it is; and one you can pick up to INDULGE IN--, anytime. However you register with THIS story of HUMANKIND, it IS rather depressing, especially when one discovers that yes, INDEED, HISTORY DOES repeat itself--READING THE ENTIRE book at one's own pace can be an excitingly informative adventure for sure, but to recall any of it later would be a miracle in itself, because all stories here are just as short as a volume of this SIZE COULD PERMIT....TO CONTAIN any MORE would make it TOO HEAVY to hold! It seems like an endless trek THROUGH FACTS AND NAMES-- AND DATES AND COUNTRIES . This is MORE THAN A TIMELINE, IT IS A BIG AND BEAUTIFUL BOOK, and a treasure for anybody who has an interest in World History.
