NieR:Automata - YoRHa Boys

I LOVE THIS BOOK
Once I started reading this, I couldn't put it down. Spent all my free time on it and finished it in a few days. This book reads like an action packed, drama-intense Young Adult book. So if you're into that style, plus you want to sink your nerd brain into more Nier Automata lore, this is the book for you.--Spoiler-Free Synopsis Below--This story takes place (many?) years before the events of Nier Automata, with the same world, same bunker, and same Commander White as seen from the game. The story is written from the perspectives of the different members of the all-male experimental YoRHa squadron. I enjoyed very much that the story is written in first person, which gives a closer look into the perspectives and minds of the very different protagonists. Also every chapter it swaps to a new location and to the perspective of a different character, essentially giving the reader turns with each character to see how they think and tick. Each character was intense and vastly different from the next which was quite refreshing and interesting. They all had their own strengths and character flaws and preferences which was great. While getting to know them at first I might have assumed bad things about one character along with the perspective I was reading at the time, only to have the tables turned in the next chapter and see things from an entirely different perspective of another character, ultimately changing my opinions about them. This book keeps you on your toes with lots of unexpected twists and turns, happy moments, sad moments, angry moments, and holy-cow did that really just happen?--moments.Also, if you read between the lines, there's a VERY interesting twist of lore at the end, that I'm sure only a small few of the Nier Automata fans are savvy to.This book well worth the read and a valued addition to my Nier collection.

Nice snippet background
Pretty interesting read. As a story, its told in snippets so like entries of different perspectives of those on the team to flesh out what's going on. It fits the NieR narrative lets say. The book came in perfect condition and shipping was pretty standard.

Better than I thought
At first I was apprehensive about getting this book, but I went for it because I'd get to read about 9S again. I liked him from the game so here we go. The story follows an all male unit of Yorha androids. It goes back and forth between the characters and what they're going through and what they're thinking. I thought all the characters were pretty likable (except number 6, hahaha, that guy was just...yeesh). Anyways, I found the story easy to follow, but other people I know had a hard time getting it since they hadn't played the game and didn't get the premise of the stories and characters, and others I know thought it was fine despite never playing the game. If you're a fan and want more Nier Automata then I recommend this book.

A great story with a thoughtful translation.
About my only complaint would be about the presence of the occasional typo. "Are you are?" comes to mind. The line was clearly supposed to be "And you are?" There's also a specific instance where No. 21 and No. 22 are incorrectly switched, but I'm not sure if that was a mistake present in the original Japanese or if it was a mistake on the translator's part. The story itself was really good. The fact that it was novelized at all gives me some hope that some of the other stage plays will get novelizations, and that those novelizations will get good translations.

Love them all
I loved it! I loved every single member of the M squadron, and even though I knew their fate from the beginning, it still broke my heart when they all died. N.21 and N.22 being brothers and protective of one another, N. 3 who is more brawn than brain n just reacts to be seen as an equal to N. 4 who did but didn't convey it well through his scolding with him. I even love N. 6 with his crazy ass but.... really wish they hadn't chosen that personality. But I especially love N. 2 and N. 9 relationship... for however fleeting it was.

An Excellent Read
I really liked this book, and wish it would be animated. My only complaint is how damaged the cover was. I bought used and except that, but this almost creased.
