The idea is that the wire is more sturdy and durable than string. However, the reel within is very strong so the wire doesn't last long as a string counterpart. My wires frayed where the wire connects to the metal loop that holds the badge. Considering you can buy a cheaper plastic multipack that will last longer, I'll be doing that next time.A note to the manufacturers would be to offer different strength coil springs inside for different use. Strong springs for if people plan to store a sizeable amount of keys but for people just holding an ID card, it's too strong and breaks the wire. Alternatively, the method of attaching the wire to the apparatus holding the ID cards might benefit from being changed as its mainly just the stress and friction of the ID card moving whenever walking (I attached mine to my belt so my legs would constantly move the ID card as I walked)

Initially, when this arrived I thought it was going to be strong and durable, but after less than 8 months and it’s broken.

Used it to hold a contact tool for doors and buttons etc on my belt. Not sure it even lasted longer than the cheap one it replaced.

I'm a teacher. I'm opening and closing doors all day and this was a great addition to my kit. I always wear it at my neck and it looks nice as well. Very happy with this product.

I bought this to keep my bus keys to hand rather than trying to fish them out of my pocket with my car and house keys.I'd bought other "heavy duty" reels but had broken them straight away when I'd jumped out of my bus seat forgetting they were attached to me.This one has a proper metal cable. A metal case and comes with a detachable carabiner.The reel can also take a heavier weight than my old reel.It took some finding on Amazon to find this. It needs bumping up to the top of the listing as it is a proper "heavy duty" item. Just what I was looking for in the first place.I've modified mine slightly for my needs. The purple carabiner is mine. It comes with a keyring and an ID holder normally.Very happy with the item.

Great quality product. Looks wonderful and the reel works perfectly. The wire near the keys did snap after 4 months of moderate use though, making the product completely unusable. Waiting to hear back on their customer support.

I use it for work with the band knife attached to it , around 40 to 50 times a day , still working as new after 3 weeks . Very sturdy and until now perfect .
