Excellent Storage Glass Item with the cover, which can be used for Baking. I like Pyrex brand and I already two of these but because of the compact size, I bought another one. I think that the size is deceiving; it can really hold a lot of food. Excellent value.

This is a review for Pyrex Simply Store 6-Cup Rectangular Glass Bakeware and Food Storage Dish by Pyrex. This is high quality glassware. I have used them in the oven (take the lid off first), fridge and freezer and dishwasher with excellent results. I have experienced no issues so far and I have many of these dishes in various shapes and size. They stack really nicely either for storing empty or stacking your left overs in the fridge or freezer. I find that overall the oblong dishes have the most versatility in the storage capacity. In all the time that I have been using these pyrex dishes I have seen no sign of the dishes absorbing food flavors or odors and they clean up sparkling every time to look just like new. These dishes look good enough to take over to friends or family when you deliver your world famous lasagna or if you have entertained you can let your guests take home a couple of slices. Either way, like my experience, you will get admiring words as to the quality of yhese dishes over the usual rubbermaid or low quality “doggie” dishes that other folks use. I highly recommend the versatility and durability of the Pyrex brand. I am not affiliated with the company in anyway. Most of my reviews are 4 or 5 star because I research before I buy and I am rarely disappointed (there are a few notable exceptions) I rely on honest reviews from people like us to help me navigate the quagmire of internet shopping so rest assured that this is my own honest unbiased opinion of this product and if you purchase it I am confident that you would agree with the points of my review.

I'm going to be fair. My use for this product is way off lable. I use it to acclimate pet shrimp to their new tank. That said, using a dish like this is a common way to do that, so in case that's what you're buying it for, its quality depends on the size bag you get your shrimp in. This dish is really small. For the large bags it's a little hard. Figure the size you get from most local fish stores. There is more water than the dish can handle and it's possible to have a shrimp go right over the edge if you just pour it over the sink or something so that's not an option. My workaround is to use a straight pin to pop a hole in the bag and let some of the water out that way until it's low enough to pour into this. If you're using the small bags, say what some but not all online fish vendors use for shrimp, then this is exactly what you need. The larger ones won't work because the water level will be too low for the shrimp. This is ideal for that. If it's mixed, sometimes buy one way and sometimes the other, then I'd stick with this. It's easier to drain some than to work around there being too little if you can't just randomly add more. That is the point of acclimation after all. For food, this would be the size I'd use to take lunch to work if that helps. For the quality of the dish itself, obviously I haven't tried putting it in the microwave, but I did lid it with water in it and some moss balls (thankfully no animals) and it took a header off a table thanks to a curious cat. It landed on carpeting. It didn't break. The lid did not come off. It did not leak. I like how sturdy it is and how securely the lid stays on.

Good container with probably a short lived plastic lid which, from my experience with others I’ve had, needs to be replaced with a silicone lid, is to be expected. Hence reserving one star. I have these in various sizes and shapes….cant beat glass for safe food storage.

Reliable and Perfect for Meal Prep! I’m a huge fan of Pyrex, and this 3-cup rectangular container is no exception! It’s the perfect size for portioning out meals or storing leftovers. The glass is super durable and doesn’t stain or absorb odors, which I love. I’ve used it in the microwave, freezer, and dishwasher without any issues at all. The lid seals tightly, so I never have to worry about leaks, even when I take it to work in my lunch bag. It stacks neatly in my fridge and pantry, which helps keep things organized. During these COVID times my produce groceries come in less often and have to stay fresh longer. I’ve discovered storing produce in sealed glass containers in a chilly fridge prolongs shelf life A LOT. Handy size for keeping foods fresh in the fridge. Lid flexes enough to give a little for overstuffing (not a lot of give, just a little). Be aware: If you wash by hand, large glass containers are heavy and get slippery. Glass containers also not light when filled with food so be prepared to use two hands when moving it around. Nice because it’s stackable in the fridge. I also freeze things in these, that’s worked well also. I also use for storing baked goods in the fridge. Liked it enough to reorder several more. AUGUST 12, 2022 UPDATE: Wanted to say all of these that I've ordered still fully functional. No broken/cracked glass or lids; lids still seal well. I handwash these and then towel and hand-dry, so perhaps that's why they've held up so well, but they look as good as the day I purchased them. Because they're a bit heavy and slippery when wet, I definitely focus and am careful when handling these so I don't drop them. The chilled glass in the fridge definitely keeps produce fresh longer than plastic (and probably healthier too), so worth the extra care.

I have the 6-cup rectangular dish with the red lid. I am a longtime fan of Pyrex glass. Pyrex beakers in my chemistry graduate lab lasted longer than the other brands and were better at withstanding heat. Pyrex bakeware is thick, tough, and sturdy. And I use smaller Pyrex containers to store leftovers in the refrigerator. They can't be stained by tomato sauce the way plastic can, and I feel safer reheating out of glass as opposed to plastic. So I was predisposed to like this, although I purchased it for an unusual purpose unrelated to food. I have recently gotten into working with copper and wanted to try acid etching. It is generally acceptable to use either a plastic or a glass dish to store the etchant solution (ferric chloride, in my case). (You don't want to use metal because the ferric chloride will etch the metal container as well, eating right through it...) But this container is just perfect for my needs. I am working with smaller pieces, generally blanks and strips (that I may form into bracelets later on). So they fit nicely inside here. The lid fits securely for storage when I am done, without evaporation. Plus, this is heavy and sturdy and will not be swept off a work table easily (not that you shouldn't follow appropriate safety practices, regardless). Because of how I have used this with chemicals, I will not be putting it in my kitchen. But this appears to be of the same quality of all my (much-loved and much-used) other Pyrex bakeware and I would feel confident using it that way, had I purchased it for that reason. This dish is dishwasher and microwave safe (I don't put the lids of these in the microwave and if you read the product listing carefully, it says "top rack dishwasher safe" and does not mention the microwave for the lid; I find these lids to do OK on the bottom rack of the dishwasher if you don't use a heated drying cycle) and easy to clean. I do not know if the lid is leak proof. With ferric chloride solution inside, I don't really want to test that by turning it over. I have not seen evaporation so far, as discussed above, but it has been a short time since I started using it so I can't say what would happen over a period of months. Also, be sure you know what variety you are getting, since there are multiple items with different sizes and lid colors listed on the product page. In general, I find the lids on the largest food storage containers to be poorer than the lids on the smaller food storage containers in terms of fit, long-term quality of use, etc., although the lid on my container is acceptable. Overall, though, the dish I purchased was excellent for my purposes and the quality matches my other Pyrex storage containers.

Pyrex products don't need reviews. They are the best by far.

Used to be able to pick these up in Australia easily, unfortunately they have become rare as hens teeth and everyone buys the cheaper thinner ones with white lids that are far more delicate. The green lid ones are very useful but not the same, although they do have the thick glass.
