So Fine / Native Sons

Loved these Guys!
Really fine musicians. Better than others of their era, hands down. Plus, Larry Sims (High harmonies, Bassist) was my best friend during his last 6 years.

This One Slipped Through The Cracks
I do remember seeing this album for sale in about 1972 or 73, I didn't buy it then and then did not see it on the shelf for sale again. Then I spotted it on Amazon and snapped it up right away. Material wise it is an axcellant representation of Loggins and Messina covering early 50's and 60's hits plus some of their own songs. It really is a must have for any fan, just to make sure your catalog is complete. Their songs have an ageless timeless tendancy that would make them hits today in todays market just as easy as 40 years ago.

I bought this for So Fine
I had all of Loggins and Messina's albums, I already had the cd of Native Sons but couldn't find So Fine anywhere. I really like their version of It's a Lover's Question and that was on So Fine along with other golden oldies covers so I bought this CD. I am very, very happy to have it, it was worth getting a duplicate of Native Sons. If you don't already have both, I'd recommend getting this one.

Great CD
I really like Kenny Loggins. I thought this was a different CD, when I ordered it. So for that reason, I was a little disappointed, but it's still Kenny Loggins!

Even though these are covers, they make them their own sound and well worth the listen. I had this in an 8-track but wore it out. I then bought it in a cassette and wore that out. Let's hope the CD version stands the test of time, their music sure has...

Great 2fer
Although these weren't their best two albums, I'm still glad to get the music nicely remastered. Some good songs that grow on you over time.

Good but not the best
This duo and their fantastic band had huge success in the 70s before going their own way, Loggins on to Footloose etc and Messina to painting and solo work. They reunited for a tour a couple of years back and there is a live CD and DVD available.Towards the end of their union they produced these two albums. Native Son is the last proper studio album and So Fine is an album of classic covers. Native Sons has a good selection of original material beautifully performed but without some of the vitality of the earlier albums. So Fine is less successful but still very enjoyable. As an example of the fabulous production values of Messina and the songwriting & performance of both of them this stands its corner and is well worth a purchase. The original CD releases of these albums were dreadful sonically but BGO has done a great job of re-mastering from the original tapes. The best overall Loggins & Messina release is "On Stage" which is a showcase of great musicianship and songwriting, the band at its best. If you're dipping your toe in go for that one but this double is still well worth a listen as are the other two BGO releases.

Un peu de country (Oh, Lonesome me) et du blues (My baby left me) mais surtout du rock avec Chuck Berry (You never can tell), les Everly Brothers (Wake up little Susie). On y trouve plein d'excellents titres: I'm movin' on, Hello Mary Lou (interprété à l'origine par Ricky Nelson).

Great Memories
This compilation of all the old rockabilly and R&B hits that I remember from the beginning of rock and roll is indeed a treasure. I owned the double LP and played it frequently, However, I find the quality of the vocal sound to be a little hollow. I don't remember this problem with my old analog recording."Native Sons" is not typical of the folk and folk-rock performances that I expected from Loggins and Messina. I wish the the re-publishers of classic albums would not clutter their releases with unrelated material just to fill the CD format.
