Always sends signal to DAC
UPDATE July 2023:I've had this unit for a few months now and I like it more than I did immediately after purchase. aptX HD sounds amazing on my Benchmark DAC3. It's truly CD quality, plus the signal never drops out. However, this unit outputs ALL audio at 24 bit/44 khz no matter what the source is, so I'm not sure exactly what type of processing it's doing. I personally don't think LDAC is fit for purpose due to constant droputs at 660 and 990 kbps (LDAC has 3 bit rates, 330/660/990 kbps, and your phone will likely lower the bit rate to 330kbps to prevent dropouts, which is lower than aptX HD's bit rate of 576 kbps). So I really like that this Bluetooth receiver has aptX HD and not LDAC, which I think is a great compromise between sound quality and dropouts.Original review (March 2023):I can confirm this unit has a coaxial and optical digital output, which is rare. Most Bluetooth receivers only have optical out.The main reason I'm not 100% happy with this Bluetooth receiver is because it never stops sending an active signal to my DAC. Since my DAC has no power button and turns itself off when there is no audio signal (it's a Benchmark DAC1 USB), my DAC always stays ON if this receiver is connected. So I have to turn off the Bluetooth receiver, which is kind of a pain as I like it to automatically connect to my phone without any faff. The other problem is that I'm not sure the digital signal this Bluetooth receiver sends to my DAC is bit perfect, but it still sounds good. The unit has a volume control, which you should never use because digital volume controls reduce volume by lowering the bit rate of your music. For digital music, the bits, such as 16 bits, control the volume of the various sounds in the music. So if the bits are lowered to say, 8 bits, to reduce the volume, you lose the dynamics in the music that's played because all of the instruments will sound like they are the same volume. So I recommend only using the maximum volume setting on this device at all times to maintain the highest bit rate and let your amplifier control the volume. Also, this unit has a "3D" setting which makes the music sound very weird. It certainly isn't 3D! I recommend you keep this feature turned OFF.

Impressive little unit for the price
Have to commend the manufacturers of this device. It was well made, simple to set up and connect to over Bluetooth and works flawlessly, with really good sound quality for the price.I just needed a simple to use device to bring an old Bang and Olufsen Beocentre 9500 and Beolab 8000 Speakers into the 21st century, to play music from laptop / tablet / phone.I had to get a 3.5mm to DIN cable to connect it to the stereo (really old school!), but once connected I was really impressed by the sound quality, considering I was streaming MP3 over Bluetooth. Input is a little on the quiet side, but turning the volume up a couple of notches and switching the Loudness setting on the B&O unit sorted that.It powers from any USB charger but, although it comes with a USB-A cable, it doesn't come supplied with the charger. So you may want to invest in one as it runs off the mains, not battery. I actually prefer this though. It also comes with various cables in the box, such as Optical, Coax and 3.5mm, and for a pleasant change, easy to understand instructions!Suited my non-audiophile needs perfectly.

Good but not AUDIOFILE Quality
I wanted a Bluetooth receiver to stream my Flac music collection from my Sony NW55A Digital music player to my Cambridge amp HIFI system so settled on this mid range receiver because it has all the right codecsThis little box is good for the money and the sound was half decent and is far better especially in aptX-HD than the cheaper battery Bluetooth units that can be had for £10But I returned this after listening to a Bluedento BL2 also in aptX-HD and was blow away with the soundYes it's twice the price but DAC inside makes all the difference and i would say most people wouldn't be able to know that it wasn't a CD playing. So as the old saying goes you only get what you pay for!

Transformed my hi fi.
This unit was easy to instal and pair with the iPhone. I used the toslink to the amplifier of my ancient but high quality Pioneer Hi-Fi. It worked first time and produced high fidelity sound in keeping with the system. There has been no dropping out and pairing new devices is a doddle. I had tried a cheaper unit previously but there was introduced noise and the sound quality was poor so I am delighted with the new receiver. Great value.

Great audio quality
Works well, if you'd like to switch to LDAC on Android click the settings gear next to the bluetooth device name and then enable high quality audio (works on Samsung phones). There is no noise in the audio playback, tested with high quality wired headphones. If you'd like to switch between devices hold the pair button until it starts blinking, then click on B06 to connect to it in the Blueetooth settings of your second device (no need to pair it again, if it is already paired with that device).

Volume feature is great!
OK, so I started a return on this then kept it! Discovered that the volume can be adjusted with my Amazon fire remote (the version with volume buttons) I didn’t realise the remote could control this Bluetooth adapter.Makes all the difference. If you use the device buttons only - they click loudly, feel plasticky and don’t make much difference to volume. I wanted quiet use at night. TV in bed. Not loud clicking buttons that were too far away on the short lead (connected to amp and plugged in to mains means the box is too far away to lean over and click the volume buttons).3D sound - useless, produces a horrible tinny echoing sound.Replaced old Logitech that kept dropping connection. This has been great, reliable and user friendly!Kept and would buy again (if it lasts).4 stars as no idea of lifespan.
