Download your app onto your computer, plug this device in.. drag/drop teh podcast from your computer to this device.... transfering.... done. Now it's on the device. You just have to download the file and then move the file over to the device.

Will it play separate folders of music?

I think you want to play music in the folder and it will play in the file

Can you transfer cd music from a Mac to this player easily ?

Yes. That's what I did and I'm not real tech savvy
