Tony Soprano is the head of two families and sometimes the pressure is too much to bear. As head of the Sopranos crime family, he deals with conniving underbosses, rival families, and the occasional dead body. As husband to his wife, Carmela, and father to his two children, Meadow and Anthony Jr., he deals with financial difficulties, infidelity, and trying to keep his "professional" life from colliding with his family life. Aside from the occasional panic attack or violent outburst though, Tony makes sure that both families are taken care of. HBO's The Sopranos truly is "Family. Redefined." The Sopranos bundle includes seasons 1-5 as well as part 1 of season 6.

What a great series to own from HBO. I just recently started watching The Sopranos and was glad to find it on the Amazon website at these prices. Just in case anyone is skeptical about buying the previously owned DVDS, don't be. The movies are always as advertised. They hardly have any scratches and is really no different than getting a brand new one that has not been previously reviewed. It is well worth the money. I get to buy more movies when I purchase those that have been previously owened.

The Sopranos - The Complete Seasons 1 - 5 & Season 6, Part 1 (6-Pack)
Six of the 24 discs did not play properly. Some seasons did not have subtitles and the subtitiles for Season 6 did not match the script. The order was late in arriving and three times the seller, Angel Express, said that they were sending replacemnt discs but didn't. I finally reported these matters to Amazon and they issued a full refund.

Might want to wait
First, with DVDs you should be very careful of third party or eBay sellers of box sets like this for heavily discounted prices. Some of them are legitimate, but some of them are Chinese knockoffs with DVD9 discs cut down to DVD5 in non-retail packaging. That means they are illegal copies and the quality and completeness of the content (like special features) are lacking. It may be their website and you may have protection from Amazon after the fact, but don't mistake the third-party sellers with buying directly from Amazon.com and don't think that they have the capability to thoroughly screen these sellers before they get on the site. Again, I'm not talking about everyone, just look at the vendor reviews and ask some specific questions and get an answer before you buy.Second, you might want to wait on this one. The model with Six Feet Under was to offer a complete series package consisting of the individual series sets after the end for $379 list (although this is always discounted). About a year later they came out with a Gift set with special packaging with additional sound track CDs (this could be a good one for the Sopranos with their music) for $279 list and readily available for $200.The Sopranos had one additional long season so it will probably be more but that set might be the one to have. It also might be more fun to revisit the complete series a little more in the future.Just my 2 cents.

The rating is for the show, not the value
First off, let me just say that I love each and every season of the Sopranos. Along with "Goodfellas", it is just about the cleverest piece of entertainment ever done involving the mob. Tony Soprano is the definitive Rennaissance mobster. He ponders the contents of "Sun-Tzu: The Art of War", yet he easily flies into a rage and beats a man to death with a frying pan over the death of a horse. Season four is my least favorite season because it was too slow and just too focused on Tony and Carmella's marriage. However, even that season I would give at least four stars. That being said, why would you purchase such an overpriced collection when we are nine episodes shy of the entire series being over? You know that if HBO made a complete gift set for "Six Feet Under" that this show is also going to get the royal treatment, probably very shortly after part two of season six airs. Thus, I would advise waiting.

Make sure you email the seller
Make sure you email the seller first. If they are all seasons in one box they are definately bootlegg copies. If they say "region free" I checked and HBO has only made Soprano's DVD for Region 1. Also, HBO states they have never issued the box set of all DVD in one box. They are good buy if your not too worried about quality. But don't pay anymore than $100 for the set, they usually only cost $25 - $50. There are some buyers selling them for around $90.
