It's a RAID Controller, nothing too exiting!
It's a RAID Controller...nothing really all too exciting about it, except for those who are looking for a RAID Controller, then this is a good one.Card has 2x SFF-8087 ports, 512MB Memory Module installed, Battery-Backed Cache Module and Cable (approx 18" long), takes a PCIe x8 slot (installed in a PCIe x16 and it works fine), and comes with a standard and low-profile bracket. Some documentation and a CD too, but I tossed those and downloaded the latest firmware, drivers, and management software.Overall, it's a great RAID Card for the money, does what I want.

Excellent SAS Controller
Received a product as described, it was well packaged and it was brand new. First thing that you need to do is to update the firmware. This can be one via HP website. Can't say much about it, it is easy to use and there are plenty of documentation available for it.

Picked this up to use with a Tape drive I salvaged from some servers that were being dumped the old card was a part of the failed Motherboard. My experience with this card was a bit tedious, as I was not using it with an HP Server but a custom built system using a Gigabyte Motherboard. With the firmware it shipped with it stopped the system from booting or even accessing the bios. I put it in another system with a different Gigabyte Board and it booted and allowed me to update the firmware which solved the booting issue on the other board but I'm still unable to enter the Bios, system bios, with the card in the system.

Battery DOA
1 star, the battery is no good. Contacting HP customer service. Maybe I can convince them to increase the monthly YEN they pay their overseas workers and perhaps hire someone to QC finished product. This is strike #1 HP; you're not off to a great start!!

No manual, software, or online link
Returned item.Acceptance of return was OK, but I had to pay return postage. Came without instructions or software. Not even an on-line go-to link was provided.Went to HP site and could not find the item manual or software.Wasted time.Could have been a good value for a battery backup 2-output RAID.

Great card for the money
The HP P410 is a great card for the money. Paired it with ESXi 5.5 and a SuperMicro mobo and works like a charm out of the box. Purchased mine from AmTech here on Amazon. All sellers state the card is 'New' however I knew that they were previously loved already before purchasing. Purchased on Sunday night, seller shipped first thing on Monday so that's great. They shipped it 2-day USPS Priority however it took USPS until Friday evening to get it to me, not the sellers fault...Oh well USPS is never on time and on their site states 2day can actually take 3-5 days with no guarantee, go figure.I did take away 1 star as the battery backup unit did arrive damaged. It is missing a chunk of the plastic around the casing leaving one of the batteries slightly exposed and the bottom half loose. This can be dangerous when the unit is on and charging. The unit does still work but is damaged which appears from being dropped on its end so I will see how long it will last. This was disheartening to see but I will monitor in case the unit fails. Other than that the physical RAID card and memory module appear to be in decent shape for being 'used'. I would buy again.

All as promised
This is a good deal on a genuine HP controller. I can't jump and down about a drive controller, but it good gear, delivered promptly.

About the same quality on used parts as anywhere, quick customer server.
First battery that came with the card was a dud and would not charge. The seller did send me out a replacement free. When I went to pull the originating battery out, it was bloated. Luckily it's casing held together or the acid could have destroyed my entire server.I did notice that on the second battery the male portion of the plug actually had the ripped off female connector from a card it used to be attached to. Probably means they didn't test the battery before sending.
