I like how these placemats look, and they are super easy to clean off. They match my decor nicely, and they're also a lot less noticeable than the cloth placemats I was using previously. Unless you have super fancy placemats, I think low profile is good. Only thing is I wouldn't fold them over. Mine came in the box slightly folded and they didn't bounce back quickly from folding to be perfectly flat.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality and appearance of this. I'd recommend it.
