Yes, this game is region free and will work on a North American or PAL console. Shooting Love is a collection of two shmups, where you control space ships blasting everything in sight, and dodge bullets to stay alive.This is the second Shooing Love collection on the 360 from developer Triangle Service (the first one is titled Shooting Love 200X). This collection, Shooting Love 10-Shuunen, contains XIIZeal (XII Stag) and DeltaZeal (G-Stream G2020). We can only guess why the game names were changed here, maybe some licensing reasons?Triangle Service games are a bit of an acquired taste. You won't find state of the art graphics here to wow your friends. You will find, however, some interesting scoring systems that are very fun to master.XIIZeal is one of the more unique shmups out there. In addition to your regular shot, you can fire shockwaves to the side by moving the joystick side to side. Bigger shockwaves are done by adding an extra tap in the same direction. You can also assign a button to "wiggle" the ship and shoot shockwaves automatically, if you want to make this easier. Your engines are a weapon as well, and anything that flies into them will take damage.Using the wiggle or engine attacks are risky since enemies need to be close to be hit, however they are tied into the scoring system and give multipliers for performing them. The multiplier maxes out at x12 (hence the game's name), and gives a satisfying sound effect when you execute several in succession. You know you're doing well when all you hear is "twel-twel-twel-twel-twel-twelve!" Also, using these attacks to hit large enemies from different angles triggers some hidden bonuses, as you kill off parts that are impossible to hit with the standard shot. Picking apart enemy bosses this way is very satisfying.DeltaZeal is a bit more traditional, however the game still have a good amount of depth. Destroying enemies quickly gives access to new areas and enemy waves, so the game will play differently depending on how well you're doing. Defeated enemies drop medals that increase in points until one drops off the screen, which resets their value. Scoring well is a balance between quick-killing enemies to trigger the more lucrative waves, and chaining medals to cash in on those enemy kills. It's nearly impossible to do both effectively at the same time, so there's a lot of decision making that goes into scoring well.On the down side, Shooting Love 10-Shuunen is a bit of a bare bones release with little extra content added on. You do unlock practice modes and extra credits as you keep playing however, so don't give up if you're having trouble.For those who have played the other shmups on the 360 and want something different but still fun, I can recommend this release. Triangle Service may not be the best known shmup developer out there, but they always deliver intriguing games.
