I don't know how it supposed to be but it is useful
I never owned a machete before, as a matter of fact I never owned a large knife before other than chefs knife. I bought this item to do light garden work. I was able to manage chopped up a tree with this and a pole saw. Ergonomically this product fits my hand perfect (my hands are small) and it's good balance swinging this. The blade is dull, I had to sharpen it before use but that's an easy fix. This blade just feels right on my hand. I like this so much I bought a kukri as well. I strongly recommend this product.

It works very well.
I purchased the Hooyman Bush Machete. Only had it for a few, I'm a scrawny old granny, at first thought it looked too big for me to handle, but it did great, well balanced. Sharpens easily, long lasting edge. Best handle, comfortable and grips great even when wet. I only use the sheath for a little while carrying it through the yard as to not scare my nosy neighbor whom have wild imagination. I haven't tried to use sheath on belt or for long periods of time, but, it looks and feels sturdy enough to use for those purposes. WEAR EYE PROTECTION!! I used machete mostly to chop up corn stocks for mulch (worked perfectly), sticks for bundling (pick-up), whacked grapevines out of the trees. Cut some small firewood, Chopped comfrey and nettle for fertilizer tea. There was no struggle using and work was done quickly. Worked great, easiest if the wood is green. Also very helpful for releasing stress by chopping the SH out of overgrowth. : D even .

Use this tool properly and it wont break
I just bought my first house, which is awesome, but it’s unfortunately surrounded by Japanese arrowroot (kudzu). That’s alright; I may not have a lot of money for the best tools out there, but I had $23, along with hopes and dreams, to buy this tool. Right out of the box, the blade is quite solid but a bit dull—not the worst edge, but it could definitely use sharpening. I used one of those cheap knife sharpeners, and it worked great; the edge holds pretty well. In these reviews, you’ll see complaints about the handle breaking, so here’s the truth: this machete is a garden tool meant for cutting light brush and vines. It is not meant to be used as a maul, an axe, or a weapon. Basically, as long as you’re not trying to split wood, cut trees, or attack White People in Europe, it’s going to function exactly as designed without breaking.

Get what you pay for
It worked well for a while. The steel blade is not very hard and received some dents and digs on it after its first use. For it to be usable I had to sharpen about every other use, which negated me from wanting to use… handle was at least comfortable enough. When blade was sharp I was easily able to chop through thick weeds, some thumb sized twigs and vines. Will buy a better more expensive brand next time.

You will not be disappointed! Excellent Machete!
I used this a few times after I bought it and it was ok. I used it all day in the yard today and it was amazing. Handle grip is excellent. Heft and thickness of the blade prevents a light strike or serious vibration in your hand/arm. It is sharp and takes care of business from bushes to felled pine tree limbs. I was totally impressed with this machete. Sorry it took so long for the review but it took spring before I got out and used it. Would buy again if needed but the way it’s made if I buy again it will be a gift. Very impressed with the quality for the price.

これから暫く物騒な時期になりそうなので、護身用に購入。適度に重く 刃の厚さもあり 握りやすくいい感じです。 只家の外で持ち歩くと、銃刀法違反になるので気負付けましょう。

A great little tool. It stays attached to my ATV and it is regularly exposed to the elements. It has absolutely zero signs of corrosion and is going strong.

Heavy and good. Not really sharp but that’s okay.

I normally use it to chop obstacles on the road or to clean around the house when it's been raining for too long and the grass is too tall. It is also amazingly easy to cut down thick trunks.
