Millarworld
Out of all the graphic novels I have read so far of Millar's work, each one I have loved. Nemesis, Wanted, Superior and all 3 Kick Ass's...Millar never disappoints. I was a little doubtful when I bought Nemesis but I completely loved the story and decided to buy Superior without hearing the backstory. So you can say I wasn't expecting anything but a great story. I am looking forward to getting more work from Millar.Short Summary without spoilers:A kid named Simon has a condition where he is blind from one of his eyes and can't walk unless he has a wheelchair or crutches. sometimes he doesn't even have the strength to talk. He hangs with his friend who always meets him once a week to catch a movie. one night after praying for years, a space monkey named Orman appears at Simons bed and chooses him to grant one wish. Simon wishes to be his favorite super hero "Superior" (A version of Super Man) He has a week to live out his dream and save the world from danger and crimes. But in a world of super heroism, there's one person who wants to take down this new celebrity. Simon gets more than what he barggined for. His time is up and he has to return back to his old self, barely able to even walk. Will he give up everything to fly around and save the world from a new form of evil? Is Orman good or bad? Find out when you pick up a copy of Superior :)

Great Read
I heard about Superior from a movie blog a few months back and how they wanted to direct a movie about the comic. I just started getting into to comics (this is actually my first purchased Trade paper back) so I didn't know anything about the story. But when I read the synopsis on the blog I was very intrigued. The whole "space monkey" thing raised my eyebrows. It looked like a great story and when I finally got my hands on it I was right. As soon as I flipped to the first page I was hooked and ended up reading it in 2 days. I wanted to stretched it out so that the story would last longer but I was so into it I couldn't put it down. The whole story is told perfectly and is paced masterful. The characters are very well built and the writing is top notch especially when you get to the action panels. The artwork is great as well as everything is clear and you can see what is going on. By no means is this a complex story or groundbreaking in anyway but that shouldn't stop you from picking this up. If your a fan of underdogs and classic super hero tales from back in the day this is sure to put a smile on your face. If i had a teenage son that wanted a comic for his birthday this is what I would get him.

superior
This was with no doubt something that I always wanted to have in my collection and I think every single person that loves , likes or enjoy to read good books should encounter. Mark millars original take on this story is beyond amazing , its a beautifull thing when u encounter a book that the writing its as good as the art , when those two match its the perfect thing ! leinil francis yu its an amazing artist who really knows how to tell stories from the visual point of view ,proportions , aesthetics , perspective , composition , dynamics ..you name it , he has it !... his work on avengers , supercrooks , secret invasion, silent dragon , indestructible hulk , ultimate wolverine vs hulk , hig roads , avengers infinity among others are along with superior master works ! I seriously hope that its Mathew Vaughn [ kick ass , x men first class , layer cake ] the guy who directs the live action version of this now since he is the one directing secret service , another great book by mark millar !

A nice homage to the hero that started it all
This book surprised me, but I don't know why, because I love all things Mark Millar. If you've read any of his other work, this book will be right up your alley. Not as edgy as his other works like on the Authority, Wanted, Nemesis, etc, but still a nice edition to what I feel is the strongest library in modern age comic writing. There is a little bit of a sentimental tone, and it sometimes borders on a little sappy at times, but it delivers for a quick and thoughtful homage to Superman as a comic and movie icon. And of course, there a couple of small twists along the way, nothing too crazy, but I surprised that Millar actually surprised me! I would highly recommend this for any comic fan, and for Mark Millar fans, its a no-brainer!

not so interesting...
I am a big fan of the author - I have many of his graphic novels. I love WANTED, and Super Crooks is captivating from the start to the last page - but Superior is bland, somewhat predictable and just not that enjoyable. I would pass on this one to read his other works.....

What Comics Are All About .... ...
If only Superman were this much fun. This is a story of wish fulfillment pure and simple. A physically challenged young boy is transformed into his favorite fictional super hero with the aid of a space suited monkey ... ... with a secret agenda. This is what great comics are all about. Lenil Francis Yu's art never looked better. His art is truly gorgeous here. And I must add that I think this is Millar's best work since The Ultimates and Civil War. Superior was largely inspired by Christopher Reeves according to a recent interview with Mark Millar. Favorite sequence: when Superior takes care of the Al Quaida problem around the globe without a single drop of bloodshed or a single shot fired. Fantastic. Superior is a must have for your graphic novel library.

Selling A Soul
Demon "Come on kid did u REALLY think I am some kinda fairy tale creature here to grant wishes?? No I'm here because I am a low level demon who hasn't gotten a soul in 500 years *sighs* people were easier a pretty girl or a pot of gold not these days everyone wants something new so I had to get creative present myself as a kind noble chimp just trying to help out a sad lonely pal". Kid "U choose me...". Demon "Because you were desperate crippling illness I'd wish I'd thought of it sooner down & out terminal ill kids too easy right kiddo?? Sell me your soul & you'll live a happy life THEN in Hell foe eternity being tortured day & night that's how the Soul Deals work Heaven on Earth eternal Hell upon death". Demon "I just bought an immoral being which means I'll never collect *dragged to Hell by demons* u little &%#@er!!"

You Will Believe...
As someone who over the years has amassed a pretty sizable collection of graphic novels, I when into this expect another run of the mill, kid becomes a hero, wish fulfillment story. Boy was I wrong! What I got instead was a heartfelt, poignant and genuinely tear jerking story about overcoming adversity. How a disability or illness doesn't define who we are and how we more often than not take the little things in life for granted. To top it all off, this story stands as a love letter to everything great about superheroes that don't rely on the dark and brooding angle; About being good for the sake of good, and fighting injustice because its right instead of vengeance. This isn't just one of the best superhero stories I've ever read, its one of the best Superman stories there is.From a jaded comic book fans perspective, this comes highly recommended. 5/5 Top Marks.

Excellent story and artwork
Read in one sitting, as I couldn't put it down.A boy with MS is offered the opportunity to become the superhero that he so admires from the cinema. Of course, there's a catch that he doesn't know about until it is too late.Mark Miller does know how to put a new spin on an old theme and combined with the artwork from Yu this is a story worth buying.

Hero tale with a great difference .Lot like new Shazam movie still this story!
I wonder if the new Shazam movie stole some ideas from this fantastic graphic novel. It is a superhero graphic novel, and Mr Miller ads a fantastic twist. But I am a fan of most of Mr Millers tales so do not take my word for it get your own copy and give it a go.Mine was a second hand copy but in really good condition at a great price.

Millar's own Superman
The book is so good, I don't know where to start. For one, it's Mark Millar's homage to Superman, and a very smart one at that - there are references to comic books, movies and the whole super-phenomenon. It's also - like The Ultimates - a story for the new century, current and relevant to today's readers, not a repetition of old themes. At the same time, it's a story about serious disease (sclerosis) and also about the temptations, we're faced with, the choices that we make and their consequences. The hardcover is beautiful, masterfully put together. Just a great book! There's maybe one chapter in the middle, that I felt was a bit to slow and made me put the book down and read it in two sittings instead of one, but now I know, that it was worth to finish it.
