Customer service with the personal touch!! Thank you Saga Musical Instruments!!!
I've never purchased a guitar, sight unseen, in 43 yrs of buying and playing music. Old fashioned thinking in today's world to many of you, I'm sure but my sensibilities are primarily driven by my special needs. At 6'8" in height my hands are proportionally larger than the average player. Additionally "buyer beware" has been the hallmark of my criteria for instrument selection. I've always held any guitar in my hands and inspected it closely before plunking down my hard earned cash!! To me that's the only way to fly.Taking a leap of faith I ordered a DG- 310 with my Prime account here on Amazon. The guitar was received in a timely manner and in pristine condition. I tuned it a whole step down to allow it to "settle in" for a week before taking it up to 440 A pitch. After another week of playing things started to move around. The neck joint is at the 14th fret and there, on the treble side at first, a hump appeared and the B & G strings started fretting out at C &D flat on the B string. Soon the hump became more pronounced and I called a great friend of mine who is a professional Luthier. He leveled the fretboard and shimmed the bridge up with ebony shim stock to a more desirable height. (I prefer the action reasonably high) and my problems seemed behind me.After a few more weeks the s*** hit the fan and notes that were crystalline clear started to growl and distort like a Les Paul into a cranked Marshall Bluesbreaker. By this time the window of opportunity to return the instrument to Amazon had expired and I was disappointed, to say the least. My only recourse was to contact Saga Musical Instruments and to my surprise I received an almost instantaneous reply from Tom Molyneaux, Manager of Saga's repair shop. He really went out of his way to facilitate me being able to ship the guitar to them, remaining in contact with me and keeping me apprised of the status of the repairs and even testing it before shipping my guitar back to me. Wow!!!! To me that defines customer service and I'm really impressed. The DG-310 was returned to me today as promised and I'm really satisfied with it. Believe me, I inspected it closely and it looks and plays far better than I'm able to take advantage of. This is a style of music far different from anything I've attempted in the past and I've tried to challenge myself daily. Hopefully I'll be able to appreciate the instrument soon as well as I do the courtesy shown to me by Tom Molyneaux and the Saga repair shop in San Fransisco, CA.Amazon Prime would be better served to allow a larger window to their customers who purchase items such as acoustic guitars and want to return them. I'm sure Saga is the exception to the rule as far as standing behind the products that they sell. Never did I expect the way I was treated, especially for instruments crafted off-shore.By the way, the quality of the guitar, construction, wood etc. are on a par with any assembly line guitars that are sold today.I'm glad that I'm a Gitane guitar owner and plan to purchase another in the near future.

PLEASENTLY SURPRIZED
I purchased this guitar,(Gitane DG-310)through Amazon PRIME. The rosewood rims and back are as good or better than you typically on very high priced Martin guitars. The sitka spruce used for the top as well as the workmanship are exquisite! I believe one could invest much more and end up with much less. The bottom line with any guitar is the sound. This one is "punchy" as well as much louder might be expected. My experience with PRIME was also excellent. I have purchased instruments from the other major catalouge stores. Truthfully, I would prefer to trade with Amazon. These people try very hard to please and when something goes wrong they correct it poste-haste! Sincerely, RYAN D.

It sounds beautiful. But we learned to expect that you must ...
We are thrilled with this and it was a gift and he was thrilled to. It was a bit dry when we got it. With all string and wood instruments humidity is important. It sounds beautiful. But we learned to expect that you must find a guitar expert to make adjustments and to keep all instruments in humidity controlled environments. This is an excellent guitar.

I wanted to find an instrument that can keep up my interests and be easy to play
The media could not be loaded. Its a Chinese made instrument that truly holds up. I wanted to find an instrument that can keep up my interests and be easy to play. This type guitar has the unusual light gauge strings .11-.042 - lighter than my jazz guitars, but that is essential for the sound of the instrument. The Gitane DG-310 Modèle Lulo Reinhardt Professional Gypsy Jazz Guitar is a solid buy for this price range. I would have to go into the $3000-$5000 range to get an real improvement. Since I am not a professional Gypsy Jazz Guitar, that cost seems silly. Not to mention that if I was slugging it out in cafes, I would still bring this instrument as it plays terrific and it isn't so expensive that I would be afraid to scratch it or lose it. I can't imagine a better guitar for the money. This is my 9th guitar and I have over 30 years of playing experience. Here is my first attempt at playing Minor Swing.
