Does not work as advertised.
The video for this product make it seem like this tool will go through wood like a hot knife through butter. NOT TRUE. DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED.I’m sending it back.Unless your wood is thin or has been season for four years the drill bit gets stuck and is very very very difficult to split the wood.I’m giving it one star because there’s not an option to give it negative stars. Don’t waste your time or money on this product.

Not bad, but use with caution.
It works but takes a drill with a lot of torque. It can turn a small log into a flailing knee breaker so be careful. When the bit catches, something has to give. It splits the log as intended, it spins the drill out of your hand or it spins the log wildly. If you use it properly and treat it with respect, it does what it is supposed to do.

Works well, but use with caution

CHEAP CHINEASIUM! Good design, bad metal!
This product is a good design by look, however it’s made of cheap chineasium! Packaging is in mandarin chinese(I took 4 years of mandarin) and it is horrifically heat treated and stopped working the moment I tried to use it. Bit was oiled and it looked good out of the box and had a good weight and thickness to it, but It was obvious as soon as I started to use it that it was trash metal, it started to burn off (which metal shouldn’t do against wood) and rubbed off on some basic oak! I had bought this with the intent of cutting some redwood oak and fatwood pine (no way I could make it even drill into that) with less risk of cutting myself. The moment I drilled a piece of wood it didn’t tap and instead just started sanding out a hole, but once it caught about a half inch, maybe 3/4 in up the bit it sheered open the split but only for a second, less then a single 4” already cut (straight grain!) log was made into kindling with this bit, Definatly a cheap piece of chinese crap. Don’t buy if you plan on using it on East coast woods, or anything for that matter. Pictures included. Hope this review helps people think clearly before buying this.

Great Idea But Not Feasible
The 1st time, when I saw it, I thought it is a brilliant idea until I used. Here is my learning. First, you need a very powerful driller. My battery powered drill can't do the work.Second, you need to fix the wood. This was a painful lesson. Until my driller is powerful enough, the log started to turn very fast and hit my toe. I was hoping I wear my shoes instead of flip-flops.There is too much work to fix it...

Strong and Heavy but stopped using it
We've tried using this device in the house to split already small firewood into ever smaller pieces, ever with a big 110V plug in drill we we're able to overcome the friction, the bit usually gets stuck or the torque required to split the wood is more than we can hold on to.If you can get it to work it works fine, ours didn't break, but we stopped using it because the massive drill we tried using either couldn't get through the wood, or would spin the whole piece of firewood because we weren't physically strong enough to counteract the drill torque.

I would not recommend this it is absolutely useless
I saw some negative reviews before I bought this item but I discounted them thinking the person either did not have a powerful enough drill or they were using wood that was too thick. It turns out that the negative reviews are absolutely correct, this tool is useless. I tried this in different thicknesses of wood and it did not work. Basically the videos that you see for this item are being used on super dry thin wood that is already kindling size to start with. Do not buy this item it is an absolute waste of money.

Works great! Just what I needed!
Works better on smaller logs but keep a pair of pliers handy for when it does get stuck. Also, as for technique, I find it easier to place one foot on the wood to prevent it from spinning with the bit and position myself directly over the wood/drill. Then I just let the weight of my upper body press the bit into the wood. It’s even easier to do if you place the wood on a stump or something so it’s off the ground a bit. For harder wood, it will take a few seconds for the drill bit to bite into the wood, but once it bites, you’re in business. I love this thing. So satisfying to use.

Handy but gets stuck often
This was a little something we wanted to try at our campgrpund. The item did work but you had to be particular with where you place it, close enough to the sides to make large kidling. Dry a couple pieces of wood on the edge of the pit as it works much better on extremely dry wood. It's difficult to remove if it does get stuck in the wood, there is no reverse as it just loosens up the bit. For the price, it was a good buy.

Don't do it! I bought and it wasted money. No stars!!
I watched the online videos like you did. I thought this is a great idea. PI paid and it arrived on time great delivery. But thatbis where great stops. I tried this on multiple pieces of drydrydry wood and my plug in electric dril would not split the wood. The drill would torque out of my hand. But not split wood. It did split already kindling size wood. Not helpful. I think good idea like you But it dose not work.

You better have a powerful drill
Doesn’t allow you to reverse drill because it is two separate threaded pieces. Stuck in the first piece of wood I drilled and can’t get it out.
