Alpha Lipoic Acid 50 Milligrams 120 Capsules

I have a dog who is severely vaccine damaged with allergies, food sensitivities, and especially behavioral issues including major phobias, reactivity, and fear-aggression. I purchased this product after researching heavy metal chelation and learning that Alpha Lipoic Acid is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and remove mercury from the brain. I wanted to follow the Dr. Cutler program for mercury chelation but was having a hard time finding a low enough dose of ALA without any other filler or bad ingredients, and this Swanson 50mg fit the bill, since I was able to divide each capsule into 1/4s and mix into some peanut butter for her (thankfully the ALA has absolutely no taste to it). Followed the Cutler protocol of every 3 hours during the day, 4 hours at night, to completely draw out and eliminate any mercury, for 3 consecutive days followed by 4 days off. Each time we did this I noticed a HUGE change in her behavior, and by the third round I was amazed at how relaxed she was around things that always used to trigger her aggression- and this is after many years of counter-conditioning & systematic desensitization training which helped her somewhat, but I knew there was more to the issue that I was missing. We also tried chelating with cilantro and chlorella prior to the ALA but didn't notice much of a difference. With the ALA, the difference was HUGE, and everyone who knew her could see the difference as well. Walks are much less stressful and my girl is much more relaxed in general. As someone who has been researching animal behavior and training, as well as vaccinosis, for many years, I'm convinced that the more recent surge in canine aggression cases is largely due to vaccine injury / toxicity, and for my dog this supplement was a lifechanger in helping her to better cope with her surroundings. Amazing, amazing product!

No problems with the seller, product appears fine, capsules are a nice small size. Haven't started it yet.

It's easier to start out with 50mg which Swanson offers. The reason is because ALA can cause gas, at first, and only if your start out with large doses, until your body gets used to it. Start with 50mg 3 x day and work your way into taking 100 mg 3x day and finally 200 mg 3x day for s total of 600mg. Some people can benefit from only 300mg. Seem to be okay. I tend to get overstimulated by ALA, so needed a low dose and just take it 2 x a week.

Purchased to use as a chelator for heavy metal and mercury detox, following the Andy Cutler protocol. I take more frequent doses than stated and seems to work fine. Only thing is I wish it didn't have calcium in it. I just wanted a pure Alpha Lipoic Acid and this was as close as I could get at a 50mg strength. Capsule size is smaller than others I've had which makes it easy to swallow.

I am doing the Andy Cutler heavy metal chelation protocol, which calls for taking ALA in 2-3 hour intervals for 3-4 days straight (including nights). I have purchased many different brands of ALA and even made my own capsules from larger doses. Now that I'm up to 50 mg of ALA, it' s nice to find a brand that has this "low" dose and doesn't have loads of fillers. If you are taking ALA erratically, or at irregular intervals during the day, please do yourself a favor and read about the Andy Cutler method. You could save yourself from real health problems now and in the future. This is not a supplement to take once in awhile, or all at once each day.

I chose this for the low dose.

I use these to control my blood sugar. It works best if you take two before you eat, so it will get into your system first. I've had no complaints with the brand, Swanson, and now go directly to their website to buy this product in the 100mg pill form. I've found that 100mg right before a meal is the perfect dose for me without over doing it. The only downside to taking Alpha Lipoic Acid, that I can tell, is that it makes you smell bad if you sweet a lot.
