Lumpy right out of the box
Let me start my review by telling you that I reaaally wanted to like this bed (especially considering how much money I spent on this bed!). I bought it in size large for my lazy retired racing greyhound. In all fairness, she used it a lot as she sleeps up to 20 hours a day. I had read great things about it and I liked the look of it. Now, it is very easy to clean as the covers come off and easily fit in the washer and dryer. The covers hold up well even after washing them numerous times. However, the bed already looked kind of lumpy right out of the box and it went downhill from there. Even fluffing it every day, multiple times a day, does not change much (see photo of bed after a few months of use). The stuffing in the main cushion gets all balled up and every few days, you have to open both outside and inside zippers and pull the stuffing apart so that the dog does not sit on big lumps and bumps or on no stuffing if it happens to be all tangled up in one side of the bed (which is probably not comfortable for any dog but certainly not for a skinny dog like a greyhound). The outside bumper was pretty much flat when we received it. Also, the seam on the inner lining ripped after a few months and it looks like it ripped while fluffing the pillow as my dog is not a digger/nester (see photo of ripped seam along the zipper). The zippers are also pretty cheap quality. My dog has stopped using it altogether after a few months and before we bought a replacement bed, she actually preferred the hardwood floor over this bed. It now sits in our spare room, only because it is hard to throw away such an expensive bed. My search was finally over when I bought a great bed with memory foam which has now been in use for the past 2 years, washed every week, and absolutely loved by my sleepyhead. My advice: save yourself the trouble, spend an additional $50, and get a high-quality dog bed (this one unfortunately is not!) that will last for years!

Definitely worth the money (and I was a skeptic at first!)
Big Shrimpy Nest Review:I’ve been through a lot of beds in my two years of ownership. Some don’t hold up and seem to flatten in no time at all. Others collect dust, sticks, leaves, and other debris which they refuse to ever release from their sherpa lined crevices. A few beds were totaled by a puppy in less than 24 hours, while the rest seem to cling to their wet-dog like smell. I’ve been thinking about purchasing the Nest for several years now, and after my puppy destroyed her second bed I decided to give it a try. I have two miniature schnauzers, Sebastian [age 2, 16 lbs] is very serious, anxious, and doesn’t like change. Madeline [age 6 months, 12 lbs] is adventurous, crazy, and a bit destructive at times.Day 1:I unpacked the bed and was surprised by the quality. Even though I’d read the description carefully, it was nice to feel how solid and sturdy the construction is. The small is plenty big for my miniature schnauzers (one at a time). It does seem to sit a little bit high, and isn’t as appropriate for sitting on the end of a full sized bed as planned. The pillow in the center and bolster around the edge are all very generously stuffed and pillowy. After trying to coax both of my dogs onto the bed and failing (they would walk onto it, lay down as instructed, then get off of the bed and lay next to it), I covered the bed with a familiar blanket and Sebastian took to it quite readily. He was very unsure of the crinkle noise that the bed makes when you step on it, but seems to be getting over it! Neither dog slept in the bed at night, choosing an old blanket instead.Day 30:This bed is once again my favorite dog bed! Although it took my dogs some time to get used to it, I modified it a bit to suit my needs. Since my dogs are small and light, I needed to remove some of the stuffing from the center cushion for the bed to lay flat and not make crinkly noises that annoy them. I’ve never had to remove padding from a dog bed (usually the opposite) but now we have some extra sitting around in case the padding eventually decides to compact/squish.I think my favorite feature of this bed is one of their big selling points - how easy it is to wash. I recently had to evacuate my home due to a hurricane. I used this bed as well as another in my back seat for my two dogs. Somewhere along the way my older dog decided he was going to get carsick and he spent the better part of an hour vomiting and then eating it again while we were stuck in traffic on the interstate (sorry for the graphic description, but to really understand how gross this bed was you have to imagine numerous vomit stains that have been licked off by a dog). It was about 2 days after we got home that the power was restored, and I was finally able to wash the bed. I removed the covers to find that the slippery nylon layer was still clean inside. I washed and dried the suede cover and struggled to get it back on the bed (imagine those days when you have a big overstuffed duvet and you are trying to get the cover back on after cleaning it. It was that sort of struggle). Once I had the bed reassembled (which really only took slightly over 30 seconds, I’m just an impatient person) it truly did look good as new. Now the dogs and I have been enjoying the bed again for its comfort and durability.Day ~250I just washed this bed again for the umpteenth time and it still looks as good as the day it came out of the box. My two dogs found it cozy to sleep in all winter snuggled together. The small is plenty big for two mini schnauzers. The center cushion may have compacted a tiny bit but it's really not noticeable at all. I haven't even considered fluffing or washing the stuffing. I've only had to wash the outer suede cover since the nylon material repels dirt and smell. Meanwhile, my youngest dog has destroyed 4 dog beds/crate pads in her crate (the nest is too large to use in a small crate). If this bed "dies" I will definitely be purchasing a new one. One bed at ~$120 versus 5 beds around $30 each is a no-brainer.

I love it, my dog... he thinks its ok with some modifications
I read many of the reviews before purchasing this bed because of its cost. I ultimately decided to purchase it because i loved the 'green' aspect of the product and company. What I love about the bed:1. Quality construction. The seams and zippers are all great. It appears to be very well made.2. Quality materials. The faux suede is thick and soft.Three things about this bed lead me to giving it a 3 star rating:1. The interior cushion is not attached to the bed. My dog loves rooting around and 'making a bed' before laying down and flips the cushion out. I put it back in the bed on a daily basis. I am thinking about putting some velcro on the underside and see if he leaves it in there. It is his comfort so I guess it doesn't matter much. I only want him to have a soft, fluffy bed but he has other ideas I guess.2. As many other reviewers mentioned, the bed is quite over-stuffed and lofty. Once out of the box I was in love with it. My dog hated it. I ended up removing about 90% of the stuffing but the dog still did not want to lay on it due to the trapped air in the inner stink-guard (as i call it) protector. I ended up putting 10% of the original stuffing directly into the outer covering and he will now lay on the bed.3. The color and fabric is beautiful, but hair sticks to it like crazy. It doesn't shake off. Not a huge problem, but I happened to choose a dark bed to hide any drool stains and happen to also own a white dog.Was it worth the cost in my house? Probably not, but I am happy to support an American company that is dedicated to stewardship. Their product may be made in China, but they are very transparent about the fact that it is. The only bed my dog loves
I rescued my buddy Bilbo one year ago, and while he has come a long way and is a pretty good boy, he still eats his beds. All of them. All types. Or he completely ignores them, as though they don't exist. Either way, he doesn't use them as beds. But THIS one...Bilbo loves it. It took him a few days to try it out and now he's in it all the time. He doesn't even sleep in bed with me anymore because nestled in this bed. =)
