Expensive but worth every penny. UPDATE: Replace grips with heat shrink. See photos.
Well I used to use a shovel for sand fleas when pompano fishing on the beach but now life is better and easier with this sand flea rake. At first I found some very similar rakes locally at half the price but when I compared the two the difference was worth every penny and got this one instead. It's durable strong light weight makes it easy to carry and use. Store the fleas right in the basket. This rake is all welded and screwed with very few rivets compared to cheaper models that use all rivets.Very glad I purchased. Made pompano fishing a breeze.UPDATE 12.31.2020After using this rake for only about 6-8 trips to the beach the black foam cushions on the handles started to tear and come loose....first the end one came off completely and then the middle one did the same....and after less than 10 uses. So to fix the defect, I used some 1/8 inch paracord and hot glue and formed and fixed a diamond pattern on the rake handle in the two locations where I normally gripped the rake to collect sand fleas. After that I slid two pieces of 1-1/2 inch diameter dual wall 3x heat shrink tubing with adhesive lining over the paracord pattern and hit it with a heat gun until it was shrunk and stuck. Oh yeah, before I did anything I cleaned the handle areas with denatured alcohol so the hot glue and heat shrink would bond better and stronger. The end result was better than the original foam, better and stronger and stuck better. The paracord pattern in the heat shrink makes it easier to grip and hold onto the handle when raking even when wet. A good grip is now a great grip. The manufacturers should take note as this greatly improves the original product. My sand flea rake is now the best of the best. See photos.Another Update: Fished this this the other day with the new grips and I must admit they worked very good. I was able to hold the grip better when wet and the diamond pattern allowed my fingers to wrap and grip and hold firm. The only downside and this downside may just be due to the fact I had to do a lot of digging, way more than normal because of rough beach break, to find any fleas is the fact that I got a blister that I never seemed to get with the stock foam grips. So possible blisters with the heat shrink...Maybe heavy EVA like on fishing pole handles would work the best???

got sand that needs cleaning?
I use this product to clean my chicken coop, which has a sand bottom... Yeah I know that is not really the purpose but it works incredibly well. It seems to be well made. Assembly was easy. It's light but sturdy. I like the ergonomic shape. I also like that I can leave it outside without worry. Its weatherproof!

well built
This rake is versatile and strongly built--it can be used for collecting shells--clamming, and of course sand flea harvesting--my neighbor even uses one for sifting the chicken poop out of the sand in his flock of backyard chickens--I purchased the unit with three piece handle assembly and it works fine but I wish I had purchased the model (same price) with the one piece handle--as I am quite certain it would be even stronger and less prone to any type of failure

Sturdy but some sharp edges on the handle joins
This is a sturdy, easy to assemble sand rake. I took 1 star off due to the need to tape the handle joints because of the sharp edges of the section ends which I encountered several times upon first use. Also the bolts connecting the rake head to the handle are unduly long & pose a hazard if you reach that far forward to steady to empty.Although not unique to this sand rake, I also found it a bit awkward to empty the contents. This could be related to my using it to filter small rocks out of a sand arena rather than its primary intent as a beach rake. (I need to scoop, sift & empty into a wheelbarrow frequently.)

Beach Treasure Hunting
Take kids out to the beach to rake the sand and find treasure. This is great and very easy to handle.

Gets the rocks out of my arena!
My husband got a “great deal” on some sand from the slough. After they dumped it in my arena, I realized it was actually an extremely bad deal. So many rocks of all sizes were through the sand, as well as trash and broken glass. After trying to modify rakes, etc, I resigned myself to picking them up by hand. I felt like I was in the story “Holes,” being made to build character.I had had enough when I started searching Amazon and stumbled upon this! It works perfectly, and now I can ride my horses without fear of them all coming up lame! This device is sturdy and easy to use. I keep it outside of my arena and use it periodically to get any debris that might surface after riding or raking the arena. I absolutely love it. I don’t know anything about sand fleas, but it is excellent for rocks!

Chicken Coop Floor
This thing works incredibly well to clean the sand in the chicken coop. I don't use any kind of straw or bedding, only sand. This works much better than the shovel that I had before.
