As an avid 5K runner (but certainly not high level or anything like that), this book offers up lots of great suggestions for both novice and experienced/veteran runners. It is a high quality book with tons of different programs and pace charts. Chapters discuss topics such as: health information, equipment, the run-walk-run method (which, it should be noted, is the hallmark of his method), using the Magic Mile to help estimate the appropriate race pace, programs "to finish" and programs for time goals, drills, speed training, race day timetables, running from, incorporating walking, using running to reduce body fat, nutrition information, and cross-training. I would recommend this book more for someone getting into running but a super experienced runner would probably not get much out of it.
Review: great for beginner! - I tried running in college. Hated it. Two knee surgeries later, I never dreamed I would actually want to run. Jeff Galloway is a running genius. His short stride shuffle run is exactly what I needed. My knees are pain free for the first time in 20+ years. And I'm running!!

This is a great book! As an avid 5K runner (but certainly not high level or anything like that), this book offers up lots of great suggestions for both novice and experienced/veteran runners. It is a high quality book with tons of different programs and pace charts.
