They're very slick and slippery, but you can "laminate"!
We had these in our home 30 yrs ago for our kids, and they played with them everyday for years. The kids built furniture, forts, whatever they imagined. They're one of the BEST toys ever! The bricks back then had a waxy-type laminate on them that gave them grip-ability. Recently, I ordered a set of these Mondo Bloxx for a toddler friend, and I was so disappointed that they have made these without a laminated coating. These, along with others I've looked into, only have paper over cardboard, and are slick and slippery. One can't build much of anything without them slipping and sliding out from underneath themselves. Since these are very sturdy and strong, I wanted to make this work, so I googled how to laminate paper. One answer was "tape". So, I loaded a tape dispenser gun with crystal clear, non-cloudy packing tape. (First used a cloudy tape, and the blemishes showed on the brick.) While the bricks were laid flat, I "laminated" them, covering them with tape, smoothing it out with the edge of a credit card. I didn't cover the cardboard that folds inside the brick, so it was pretty quick and easy. They folded-up perfectly; they look great, and now they are laminated with SUPER grip-ability, ready to build whatever the imagination can think of, with the ability to grip together and not slip out from underneath themselves. Laminating will also solve the problem that people have reported of color rubbing off on their hands. I highly recommend these bricks once laminated. They are fabulous; your kids will have fun with them for years to come.

Best blocks out there.
We had these same blocks as kids. They survived us as kids, my children, and would probably be fine with my grandchildren, but they were given away years ago. So, I bought both my grandson and granddaughter a set of these blocks. They are easy to assemble, uniform in size and the kids took to them immediately. They were building an knocking down towers in no time. These blocks are effectively indestructible. The kids can easily stand on them without any issues. I probably could, but didn't want to try, but as I said above, the prior sets lasted for multiple generations.

They are sized perfect!
I debated this purchase for several months. We have a set of the standard multicolored building blocks and the Grandkids love them. They have been around for 15 yrs and the newest Grandchild is 18 mos and still loves them. But she aspired to lofty heights so I began looking for larger sized blocks. The Mondo blocks seemed like the only ones that were truly larger than what we already have. There was mention of color wiping off, and that they were slippery so wouldn't stack and stay well. Taking advice from another reviewer we covered the blocks with clear packing tape (not solid but fairly close). I did 10 blocks before my existing roll ran out. The Granddaughter was here the day after and absolutely loved them!I need to get more tape to finish the remaining 30 blocks but I am very happy with these blocks. I would purchase again if the need was there, so if you are wondering if it's a good purchase then go for it you won't be disappointed. The only issue I now have is what do I store them in?? My old blocks fit in the large rubbermaid tote, just ten blocks take up almost that same space and I bought 40! Going to need to get creative with this one ;-)

LONG-LASTING CREATIVE PLAY
These heavy duty cardboard bricks are very well designed for both creative play and longevity. They will support the weight of most young children. There are 40 of them, so there are countless ways a child can create and play with structures. A favorite use is to build something up only to ultimately make it tumble down. I gave a set 2 years ago to my youngest granddaughter, who was 3 years old at the time and still plays with them at age 5. I gave another set my 3-year old grandson this year, and he and his 6-year old sister had a grand time building structures and tunnels with them on Christmas day. These bricks are easily stackable and storable.

Sturdy and hours of fun.
Love these blocks for my grandchildren. Sturdy. I have bought blocks like this for years for my church nursery. My only disappointment with these is that they are smaller than the ones that I have bought for my church nursery. However maybe they will hold up even longer than the ones I had at church. I had two different sets at church over 20 years. That’s a pretty good track record. We are storing them in a bookcase. So hopefully we won’t have any red rub off. but it doesn’t seem like they will rub off anyway. At this point I think these are the best choice available even though they are a little bit smaller. I prefer the blocks that are all the same size anyway. Please provide hours of great fun.

If you've got room to store them, these give you a ton of bang for your buck
I just got a text from my mom with a pic of my 4yo niece playing with these blocks. I bought them for her big sister and brother six years ago! They are a little worse for the wear from being stood on, thrown around, etc., but she's still having a blast with them.I initially bought them because 1) I remembered playing with them when I was a preschooler, and if you remember a toy after 30-plus years it's probably a good one and 2) I wanted to troll my sister who had just bought a big new house. My husband and I assembled all the blocks and put them in like an appliance box or something. They were a big success on all fronts, and my sister's family even brought the blocks with them when they moved to a new house a couple years ago.In short: these blocks rock and make a big impression (though they're probably not ideal for apartment living, for example).
