Love it!
I have used a wire tool for puck distribution for a long time. While that tool does what it is supposed to, there is no dressing of the grounds to the rim of the basket; unequal thicknesses of grounds in the basket will still happen.I hesitated for a few years buying this tool, mostly because it is quite expensive. Finally got around to treating myself to one. It's a great tool! The threaded depth adjustment (for both ends) is terrific! NO guessing as the level of grounds in the basket.I do wonder some about the exact technical specs of the compressed grounds. It is conceivable that the compression may be uneven. The instructions expressly warn against using the tapered vanes for puck compression, but how does one know that has NOT happened? The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as it is said. Whether it's a placebo effect that simply makes me happy, OR that the distribution of grounds is better now than without the tool...what does it matter? I'll take either one! This tool does work with a funnel. I generally use 18.6-19.0g of grounds depending on the beans. That much coffee in an 18g. Rancilio basket will get you some peaks over the edge of the basket. A funnel helps with that...and this tool has no problem fitting to the funnel. After the initial distribution, I remove the funnel and give the puck a few more twists with this tool until there is contact made between the tool and basket edge. With proper adjustment, this does not overly compress the grounds, I still use a tamp to finish the basket. \Small tool adjustments are needed from time to time depending on the beans you purchase. They are certainly NOT the same all the time. No one expects that, I'm sure. This tool feels well in-hand. Precision designed and manufactured. It is a pleasure to use.

High Quality - infinitely adjustable - great value
I love that you can adjust the depth of both the leveler and tamper with the "stops" being the main body. Once you have it set up and synced with your grinder, you get excellent consistency. The product has a great feel and fits perfectly in my 58mm portafilter. Simple, elegant design that does what it is designed to do perfectly.

A Step In The Right Direction!
First off, this thing is very well made. It will outlive me, my future children, everyone reading this review, and certainly the poor soul who breaks into your home/shop that it gets thrown at! I did not run into any sharp edges or surfaces that would cut someone.I bought it to try to make it easy to train volunteers on our new Astoria Sabrina SAE 2 Group (a commercial machine), and because the tamp that came with the machine left a very small gap around the outside edges. That is the only reason that I am knocking off one star, it still leaves a bit of a gap when tamping down with a 58mm base. BUT the distributor side works great, so I'm keeping it around just for that! The shots that it is helping pull are still good, but for a commercial setting, I want to be sure to remove every variable that I can (even if it's only .5mm).For the price, you won't find a better 58mm palm tamp and distributor!

check the size of your portafilter
I didnt realize this didnt fit my portafilter for my Breville Barista Express. I also thought it was going to be a spring tamp which its not.

Great Addition!!
Works great! I’m not sure if I’ll ever go back to using a traditional tamper! It allows you to really get consistent shots once you spend a little time getting it dialed in! It’s well made and looks good, too! Very easy to learn and use!!
