Pit Boss 71220 Kamado BBQ Ceramic Grill Cooker, 22 inch

This might be premature- as I have not cooked on it yet, but I was very impressed with the sturdiness and overall quality. Did not know it would have such heavy, thick, double ceramic walls, and thought I would have to build a shelf/table for it. Not necessary, as the stand that comes with it is quality steel. Good seal to the lid. And came with great cover, pizza stone and flame block. Very happy so far..... 2/19/23. I have now used it for pizza, flammkuchen and bratwurst. It is great. Also, it came with all the necessary tools for assembly. I love it.

I bought this grill when it was around half off the regular price, which was a heck of a deal. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. Along with this grill, I also purchased an Auber smoker controller. I've used it only as a smoker so far, and it's done exceptionally well. The last brisket I cooked for around 17 hours at 225, and when I put the meat on the grill, it was about 6 degrees and snowing (see pic). The grill holds temps like a champ, and after that 17 hour cook was done, there was probably still a good 6-7 hours of fuel left under the diffuser stone (I use a char-grill brand stone because i'm cheap and it fits just fine). Phenomenal!

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This grill cooks everything! Even pizza! We use it all year long. Great smoker too!

The deliver company was perfect called me, I was not home, I had them leave on porch. I watched through the cameras how gentle they we upon delivery. The unit is awesome - super nice quality along with easy assembly. This is a great value.

Just bought this Kamado a few days ago, hard to beat this size Kamado grill for $435.00. Like everyone else I looked at all the manufactures. BGE, Primo, Vision & others. All are great smokers, all have their pros and cons. I get the BGE revolution, but it's hard to spend an extra $1000.00 for minor differences. The assembly on this unit was alright, I had to retrofit a couple of screw holes on the stand, not a big deal. I spoke to customer support, they were about to send me two new legs, but I was comfortable enough to make the new drill holes. If you are not the handiest person out there, Amazon has free assembly on this product. Use it, no brainier.There are some great tips on the other reviews to bring your smoker up to BGE level. I added a few strips of felt on the bottom slide, it took 1 minute and a few extra dollars of felt. It did the trick, air tight. I am also going to add some extra felt to the top portion of the grill, I noticed some smoke coming out. I did a few dry runs in controlling the temp between 250-275, I was very surprised how effortless it was. I Smoked ribs for a few hours at 275 and temp did not fluctuate more than a few degrees. So if you are someone frugal like me and want to have your beer drinking toys to, this is a good option to consider.One last note, the packaging it came it was second to none. Sturdy hard corigated cardboard, well packed inside, very happy what I saw at first sight of inspection. I hope this givesyou some guidance on purchasing your new grill, whatever you choose I am sure you will be happy with it. And a added bonus, this grill comes with a cover, not sure if that was in the description.

This grill was awesome for about a month. I have owned it for little over a year or more. After a month or so the hinge stopped working right so it left a gap in between the top and bottom. I contacted warranty and got another hinge to be sent. The hinge literally took almost a year to get to me. It was never in stock then had to be shipped from the manufacturer but it took over a year! That was with multiple emails a month. Well I just installed the new hinge and approximately one month later it develops the same gap in the lid 😂. What a joke. I wouldnt recommend any pit boss stuff.

First the good: Cooks like a kamado should. Keeping temps as low as 225 was easy. Price was the reason I purchased this kamado over the other brands. I paid $439.50 with a Amazon Prime members deal. Overall quality is very good. Looked at Kamado Joe and BGE. Both, in my opinion, are a higher quality than the Pit Boss but you get what you pay for. Assembly was fairly easy.The Bad: Came with a chip in the paint on the bottom. I said the assembly was fairly easy. It would have been extremely easy but the table mount brackets (2 of the four) did not line up with the bolts. One I was able to force one on. The other I had to re-drill the hole. The lower vent does not close with an airtight seal. It's loose and needs some tweaking before your first cook. What I did was bent the four corners with a pair of pliers so the door would fit tighter in the track. The bottom of the vent was not calked. Ordered black food grade FDA RTV4500 silicone sealant. That worked great. All simple fixes but the buyer shouldn't have to do these things.This grill should have gotten 5 stars. A little quality control at Pit Boss factory could have easily prevented these issues.Just a quick note about the shipping company used to deliver this unit: CEVA. During tracking I revived a note saying that a delivery appointment had been offered to the customer. I never had an offer for delivery.I didn't even hear from them. I googled the carrier and gave them a call. They had the wrong phone number listed.Amazon account info has my number listed correctly. So how were they able to offer an appointment? I got that corrected and gave them my wife's number so they have a fall back. Rescheduled the delivery. They were a no show. Called them again. They had the wrong number for my wife. Really!! OK so why not call the other number?? They had TWO NUMBERS. Really bad experience with the shipping company.
