There is a knack to this, it's not like straightforward riveting where you squeeze to the break. My first job was with 4m rivnuts and the mandrel broke on the second insertion. You can buy replacements which I did. You can apply a lot of force with these long handles. I drilled some holes in a steel offcut to practice.
