You always need to calibrate the mic/pre to SMAART with with a calibrator for SPL measurements.

no - the foam is just to reduce wind noise.

Hi Jane, nice to meet you. my English is no good...sorry only IMM6 mic with 4 pin to 3 pin microphone jack adapter is usable in PC input. EMM6 needs a mic pre amp with 48V phantom power. I use M Audio USB mic pre amp audio track pro. Best regards
