This item only worked for about 2-3 weeks. It was only OK while it was functioning. It's cursor movement was not terribly accurate, though it did make typing in a search term easier than using the standard remote.It stopped functioning after about 2 weeks. I have been on the phone with LG at least 5 times trying to get a replacement. The fact that it was only OK while working, combined with my total lack of success at getting a replacement means that I would NEVER recommend spending the money on this item.Update 4/9/12: After two more phone calls, a fax and an email, I finally got a replacement part. And guess what? It didn't work either! A couple more phone calls and I still don't have a working remote. My return window for Amazon has expired, and LG refused my request for a refund. So I'm out of luck, and my fifty dollars (which is what it cost me back in December)

This remote is simple to hook up and use. There is a small slim box with a USB connection cable you attach to the back of the set. Nothing else needs to be done.It works pretty darn well and I cannot figure out how you would enjoy your smart TV without it. No idea why the manufacturer would not include it with the TV. (OK, I realize there is a profit motive, but it seems that getting customers upset that need to buy an extra piece of hardware is counter-intuitive in a very competitive industry.)The only issue I have run into is sometimes the cursor does not disappear when you are done with it.
