Sommer Side Mount Kit

Unfortunately both customer service and the product description did not mention that you must have torsion springs for this side mount kit to work. The idea is good and I may contact a professional to convert my garage to torsion springs, but until I do that, this product will not work for me. Hopefully this review helps someone else with extension springs make an educated decision. Almost broke the door when it tried to lift from one side with the extension springs.

Other than the fact the instructions suck and it needs to be lined up just right, it works perfectly.

Excellent, well designed option. Installed on my Wayne Dalton doors with a little modification. Smooth and cleanest design for overhead garage doors. No overhead rails when complete.

I have a Wayne dalton door and the top roller assembly will not allow you to install this side mount kit.

Great product! The unit is so quiet and smooth you hardly know it is operating. However, the installation instructions are inadequate and somewhat confusing. I suggest accessing YouTube for a step by step video demonstration.

GREAT PRODUCT, BUT IT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER IF IT ACTUALLY WORKEDWe bought 2 Sommer garage door openers, 2 side mount kits and other accessories for a total cost of approximately $900.00. Neither unit works and the seller, North Shore Commercial Door.com, has been entirely unhelpful in resolving the situation. (They haven't responded to emails other than to ask for our order number, which we provided.)We bought these units in February and installed them according to the instructions. There's probably a simple solution, but we need a little help to figure it out. In the meantime we have to open and close the doors manually because we removed the old openers when we installed these. I'm a senior citizen with back problems so this hasn't been much fun.These openers may be great, but thanks to North Shore Commercial Door.com, we have no way of knowing.
