Good for the previous decade
A disappointment from a great company, I think they rushed too much in this thing. Making a plastic platform (as if we don't have enough things to carry around) with an awkward tripod arm. which supports only one type of tablet (not even that... I had to update the firmware for it to work with a brand-new ipad air 2, even if the "director" was specifically for this model).Relatively slow responses on the screen and unexplained lock up of some controls. Other than that it works fine but it's already surpassed by the software-only solutions and the remote-controlled devices.

I shoot with a Nikon D750. Initially when we recieved it it would not pair with the iPad Air 2. We did have update the firmware and then all was well. The live view works great and the ability to zoom and focus and just settings is great. I especially love being able to rate the photos as they are shot verses culling later. My primary negative is this is a huge battery suck. Be prepared. In a four hour commercial shoot it went through two fully charged camera batteries. We also had a fully charged iPad that would normally last me through 8-10 hours of movies and it was also depleted at the end of the shoot. The system does come with a power cord which is helpful for indoor but if going out on locations be aware of the power needs.

I would not really recommend this unless you need a toy to show off
It's an okay product but still needs a lot of improvements.I got to use it today at an event and I gave two stars for the following reasons: It takes time to get connected to the camera, sometimes it's quick and sometimes it will take unplugged and turning on/off camera or the iPod. Few times even the app crashed.Second biggest fail is the LAG. its needs to be a lot quicker. There is definitely a delay in when you click the pictures vs what it captures.Plus the mount it is really cheaply made.I would not really recommend this unless you need a toy to show off.

Not Good.
Would not work with the iPad Air 2. The correct and up to date app would not recognize the connected Digital Director.

2 stars for Amazon
Manufacturer indicated to order for I Pad Air 2 to use I Pad Pro 9.7". The software wasn't compatible. Very few Nikon cameras work with the Digital Director. You have to search for the information as it's not readily available at the MFG web site.

Very useful for shooting video with a 5D mkiii
This really helps me shoot video. A great help if you have a 5d mkiii. The physical plastic is a bit flimsy so be delicate with it. Great customer support when I had a question.

Functionality varies by device
Does not function on the iPad mini 2 A's universally advertised. Touch screen functionality varies and renders one of the key benefits of this device ineffective. You cannot tap anywhere on the screen to focus and you cannot zoom.
