I highly recommend this garbage can. It’s lightweight, sturdy and has a simple yet smooth design. Much better choice than many other cheap products that fall apart over a few months.

This is my second time purchasing a simplehuman trash can, and it continues to exceed my expectations. The quality and design of this product are top-notch—durable, sleek size was well thought out for everyday use. The lid mechanism works smoothly and quietly, and it does a great job containing odors with simplehuman odorsob pods. It’s a bit of an investment, but in my experience, it’s absolutely worth it for the longevity and functionality.

Amazing can! It’s ridiculous how excited people get about trash cans now and how willing we are - myself included - to shell out over $100 just to throw out what we don’t want! Yet, we do and we are :) My wife and I LOVE this trash can. The rectangular shape with curved edges around the top lip of the can REALLY adds a lot more room than our previous Simple Human can, without adding much extra floor space in our kitchen at all. In fact, it added maybe a little over 2” in width, and less than 1” in depth from our previous 40L can. Again though, amazingly, these slight differences do make up for the extra 5L we get in this can. I love the fact there is a “double-lid,” the top of which is used to clamp on top of the rim of the garbage can opening after you place the trash bag inside the bin. I LOVE this feature and it keeps the bag always nice and neatly aligned without snagging, getting a side pulled down inside of itself accidentally, etc. The trash bag compartment accessible both on the backside and interior of the can to pull a new bag is icing on the cake and makes changing out trash bags WAY easier. This process in our old Simple Human used to be much more difficult and messy at time. And even when full, I don’t get the horrible air vacuum suction effect when trying to pull the bag up and get it out of the can. This would happen frequently with my old can and it became a pain in the butt and took a lot of strength to pull a full bag out. Not so with this one! No motion-activated lid which I actually like a lot. Motion sensors often break after a whole, then you have a half-working can. So J like this is purely manual. AND kudos to Simple Human realizing a matte finish lid is much better than a stainless steel lid which always shows fingerprints and yucky stuff constantly. Love the matte gray on this so it hides imperfections and doesn’t stain with fingerprints. A+! Last thing is, though the step to open is on the front perimeter of the can, my wife and I set this up so that the top lid faces sideways. The only place we could fit this was on the left of our kitchen island. And even stepping on this from the side I don’t feel any difference nor encumbrance doing so. Works great. All in all, five stars. Couldn’t be happier. So weird I’m rating a trash can but it’s great!

This is my second set of these cans. I keep two at a time, one for recycling/one for trash, and always get compliments on them. My first set was not the plastic lid type but was a rose gold finish which wore off with cleaning and impacts over 5 years or so. This version with the plastic lid is cheaper and superior in my opinion due to the abuse the lids will take. All four that I have owned have made the noise others mentioned when opened, but it’s never been an actual durability problem- you get used to it. Never bothered me. These use standard 13 gal bags. Costco ones fit great. HOWEVER the bags that SimpleHuman sells are some of the most insanely strong/tear proof bags. I keep some on hand for when that’s warranted. I love that I can open the bottom portion of the lid (which hides and secures the bags) and it will stay open while cooking etc. This system of pinning the bag down is so much better than any cans with a plastic liner to fiddle with. My only other discovery with these cans is the bump out in the back for the hinges/handle/bags does stick out considerably and I found it rubbed against the wall when the cans would get pushed back from use. It did leave scuffs. I’ve solved this problem with a length of 2x4 behind the base that spaces it perfectly and is unobtrusive. I could see how that would irritate some- but it also makes a nice holding slot for flattened cardboard before I have time to take it out. My first set would have lasted me forever had I not knocked one over and cracked off a piece of the hinge mechanism. Totally my fault. But I realized at that time these have a 10 year warranty and I had forgotten to register them, so don’t forget to do so- but I was happy to invest the money in replacements and use the remaining good one elsewhere in my home. I love these garbage cans and I will evangelize about them to anyone who wants to talk garbage cans. Buy them!

The best trash can in my opinion and came with bags and air freshener

I would give this all five stars but for the fact that every step to open is accompanied by a loud, annoying squeaking from the mechanism. For the record, I weigh about 100 pounds and have not stomped on the pedal, just go with a light step. I had been using the can for less than a week when these sound effects began. I have tried moving it here and there, but it doesn't seem to be due to imbalance or surface issues beneath the can. I owned a Simple Human step to open can, without the slow close lid feature, for about 10 years before the opening of the lid mechanics failed. I'm not optimistic this one will make it that long. I like the look of this trash can, it wipes clean with a light stroke of a damp microfiber cloth. The sample liners included with the can fit very snugly around the top, which is then completely covered when the lid closes. It does require a little care in positioning the bag to fit. They are also very easy to remove. The storing of the liners in the back of the can is a feature I really like; you just pull the bag through the inside of the can and voila! Although the replacement bags are a bit more expensive, they really are high quality - if that's the sort of thing you don't mind paying for.

This is the best thing that I bought this year. I had my last one for 13 years, but I finally sent it to trash heaven and got this baby. While the last one was really high quality, this is one brings it forward with far better fit and finish and new features. The bag dispenser in the back of the trash can totally rocks. Just slide one of those ten packs in the back and you are good to go. If you are older, the size and weight of the filled bag might be overwhelming. I would also recommend a smaller size if you are a single person household as it might take a few days to fill it and may stink. I'm 73 and it's not an issue. Just press BUY NOW and go look at the bag refills. You won't regret it.

Je bavais devant cette poubelle depuis plusieurs mois. Mais j’avais du mal à me dire que j'allais mettre plus de 150€ dans une poubelle.... Cela dit, les avais très élogieux m'ont convaincue et je l'ai achetée. C'est un très beau produit. On voit tout de suite que la qualité est au RDV. Les sacs sont top, solides et sur mesure. Toutefois, le couvercle de la poubelle ne se refaire pas toujours automatiquement. Je pense qu'il y a un petit défaut mais bon je ne l'ai pas renvoyée. Je dirais donc que globalement je suis contente de mon achat mais que je suis déçue, qu'à ce prix là, il y ait un bug au niveau de la fermeture du couvercle...

Like some other reviewers, I never thought I'd be reviewing a bin but.... I gave in and splurged out on an expensive bin for the kitchen, the place where a bin gets used most often. I have an engineering background so understood better design, engineering and materials cost more but was always reluctant for a bin of such expense until I had enough of buy cheaper to medium priced ones that would last around a year or two, that would start fail before that and basically I'd keep using them whilst broken or misfunctioning with sheer frustration but not this time. Many of the people I knew either had Brabantia, which can cost a lot too, of good quality but I didn't like the designs and function, it didnt work for me but I knew why they cost so much. They worked, worked well. I wanted function and form and this model fits perfectly, literally. I wanted a rectangular to square shape as it's more efficient and would fit better under our kitchen space, under the countertop space. Had to be foot operated, which I see as more hygienic and functional when both hands are full. The wide foot pedal is a delight, doesn't require too much pressure and the soft close is great, altogether a different mechanism to all the pedal bins I've had (several in a few years). The weight, although slighly light with a slight wobble at first, it doesnt slide about on the quarry tiled floor as the rubber feeted base grips and over time when it stats to fill up theres no wobble at all. The design is classy and chic, with a nice matt sheen, quality stainless steel body and truly fits the part. I'm not going to say it's life changing but I feel assured it will last several years easily, with the company standing behind it with a 10 year guarantee, that to me is worth the cost in the grand scheme of things. Enough said.
