TOPTOW 64131 Dual Hitch Extension, 2 inch Towing Receivers, Extends Adjustable Length, 4,000lbs

Very useful if you need to tow and carry a tray or bike rack.

Makes taking bikes and camper much easier. Only problem is bikes may hit camper on tight turns. I have a Hollywood bike rack. Not sure all bike racks would work.

I bought this to tow a 1500lb off road trailer with camping gear. The shank that attaches directly to your trailer hitch is made of 5/16" thick steel (measured using a steel gauge). The exterior weld attaching the shank to the extended receiver (the part that attaches to your trailer) looked reasonably well done, no holes in the weld or spots that it was too thin. It looks like the shank sticks into the receiver about 1.5". I did not see much of any "inside" welds in the receiver... so I busted out my welder and added some inside welds, so that the shank and receiver are now welded around the outside joint and on the inside joint. Should be stronger that way. The rest of the product (both the tow receiver and the 2nd/non tow receiver) seem to be 7/32" thick, just shy of 1/4". There was a LOT of "slop" or wiggle between my vehicle side hitch and the shank. I welded a bead all the way around and ground it down a bit, and now it is a snug fit with little play. The tow receiver attached snugly to my actual trailer hitch, and my bike rack fits into the top receiver with an acceptable amount of wiggle. So - for $35 amazon price, know that you might need to do some modifications to make it work better or more safely depending on your application. To buy the materials to build something similar, it would be more like $80 plus my time to make it, so easy win on a $35 part. I'll write back if it fails or any negative pops up during an off road trip.

The extra height this hitch riser provides, helps raise my cargo carrier for higher clearance from the ground even when the car and carrier are fully loaded and riding low. The tightener bolt on the side of the riser was a great addition to take some of the wobble and play out of the installed carrier into the riser. Seems to be well constructed and sturdy enough for its intended purpose.The extra holes were helpful in adjusting the clearance or distance of the riser from the back of my vehicle to allow the riser to clear the bumper.

I got this because I wanted the ability to add a hitch-mount brake light below my bike rack. This was a perfect solution and does the job.

Used it on my rv. Perfect

We used a tow basket on our motorhome but discovered it blocked access to the black water waste hose. It was hugely inconvenient to unpack and remove the towed/stowed items simply to dump our sewage. This hitch raises the towing platform enabling access AND makes our license plate visible (was also blocked by the tow basket). Well made product and cheaper cost than local hardware stores.

Item worked as needed. Was able to raise the cargo carrier. Works really well when installed with a hitch tightener. Highly recommend!
