Mega Shark Vs Kolossus

If you like this type of film, well, this particular film is one of the best. I put it in the same class as the original Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla.Biggest asset: wall-to-wall action. There is enough happening here to fill 3 films. The actors play very seriously against a backdrop of quite frankly goofy happenings, which lends the film enough gravitas to make things believable enough to involve viewers in the plot. The special effects are up to Playstation 4 game quality. And some of the concepts are just off-the-rails nutso in the best possible way.I watched this with my kids and it was a great popcorn movie night.

The trawler along with two submarines are destroyed trying to stop it.In the Ukraine exclusion zone... A deal for red Mercury is going down in a subterranean location. In it, is a giant robot, Kolossus, that uses red Mercury for it's fuel. Moira King, is a CIA plant. During the deal, Kolossus comes to life and King is the only one who escapes.Dr. Alison Gray is recruited by Joshua Dane of DaneTech after her plan to stop the Mega Shark, which involves using a transmitter that she developed on her own, is rejected in favor of John Bullock's plan. Dane wants to allow the Mega Shark to live because it is part of the balance of nature.Meanwhile, King goes to visit a man named Spencer. Spencer has information on Kolossus. He says that Kolussus was a weapon that was made by the Soviets during the cold war. It is a mobile missile launcher. King takes Spencer with her and goes searching for the creator of Kolossus.A plan by Admiral Jacksson and John Bullock fails miserably. Mega Shark smashes several navy ships as well as Jackson's flagship aircraft carrier. In the process, Mega Shark happens to disable the plane that King is flying. No matter, after being rescued by Joshua Dane and Alison Gray, they take one ofDane's planes and go find Sergei Abramov, the creator of Kolossus. He tells them that there is a way to control Kolossus. Soldiers break into the diner and kill Abramov. Before he dies, he gives clues on where to go. Finally Alison and Dane agree to help Admiral Jackson by using Alison's transmitter toguide them the shark to them. After the transmitter fails, Admiral Jackson loses his mind and launches a nuclear missile and then kills himself. Dr. Gray leads the shark away so that the missile won't explode near the ships. Jackson's replacement, Commander Parker manages to detonate the missile while it is still in flight. Moira King swoops in and rescues Dr. Gray before she is gobbled up by Mega Shark.Back on Dane's ship, Spencer accidentally discovers that the compass Abramov gave to him has a locator on it that targets red mercury. Next...MEGA SHARK AND KOLOSSUS MUST BE PROGRESSIVES: ... Moira King flies around with a giant American flag tailing behind her. This is to distract Kollossus into trying to destroy it. Mega Shark then flies out of the ocean to attack the flag. These two giants seem to hate the American flag more than Progressives. The two ending up encountering each other at the bottom of the Black Sea.Abramov's laboratory is found. They retrieve the controller and bring it back to Dane's ship. It turns on that Dane has been listening to 'Tears for Fears' for too long. He just wants to rule the world. So he sticks some red mercury in Mega Shark and can now control the two monsters which he calls 'Surf and Turf'. He broadcasts to the world that he is now in control. He smashes the militaries of the worlds air forces. He disables the 'Star Wars' defense system. But unexpectedly, Dane loses control of Mega Shark. Mega Shark goes on the offensive and attacks Kolossus. It knocks out the controlling device on Kolossus. Kolossus attacks Dane's ship and then stomps on him onshore. Spencer, King and Dr. Gray escape on to land. Mega Shark and Kolossus continue their tussle and Kolossus goes nuclear as they tumble to the ocean floor.In the Aegean Sea, a new Mega Shark emerges.COMMENTS:- I'LL START OFF WITH SOMETHING NICE: I think the Kolossus looks very good for a budget of this size. Thisis the best looking opponent for Mega Shark.- YOU JUST HAVE TO LOVE ASYLUM PRODUCTIONS:-The 'newborn' Mega Shark that is only 30 feet long has the scars of a lifetime of battles.-Even though they are flying in a giant helicopter, all of the officers have a cap with a ship on it.-The submarines fire some of their torpedoes from the top of the sub in the manner of an ICBM beinglaunched into the sky.-The Pripyat exclusion zone in Ukraine looks exactly like the American southwest. Ukrainian deserted towns look just like American deserted towns. The have American diners, American cars, American street signs. Who knew that Ukraine modeled itself exactly like the United States. They even have Americannewspapers.-The Soviet secret underwater base that hasn't been used in decades looks amazingly like an American office. To give it a Soviet look they budgeted in a USSR flag to stick on the wall.-Dane gets control of Mega Shark by sticking a capsule of red mercury in it.Then there's the deliberately over-the-top stuff... How can you beat Kolussus tossing Mega Shark into space to destroy a laser satellite? Playing matador with the American flag? Taking out Christ theRedeemer in Rio doesn't beat that.- WHAT EXACTLY DOES RED MERCURY DO? It seems to have a multitude of functions in this movie. It...-Poison the atmosphere for a 1000 years.-Used as a weapon.-Use to power Kolossus.-Used to run a controlling device.

Wow. Big Big shark. Big Big robot. Renegade CIA agents chasing the robot. Renegade billionaire chasing the shark. US Navy in the middle.There is a giant shark threatening the global economy. Meanwhile searching for a new energy source the Russians awaken a giant robot that is a doomsday weapon. What could be worse? How about adding a sociopath billionaire with delusions of grandeur?This is basically two stories combined into one. There is much action and intense music. Lots of really decent CGI considering it is a SY-FY channel “B” movie. There is a good amount of camp to go along with it. Basically a fun Saturday afternoon movie. Don’t expect good dialogue or great acting. Expect to be just plain entertained. Yes, there are some impossible and/or improbable situations but so are a giant shark and a giant robot. Don’t take it or yourself too seriously. Just watch with your tongue firmly in your cheek. After all that’s what you expected, Right?

Honestly, this movie was fantastic. The writing, acting, cgi, and direction was phenomenal. It is oscar season right now, and it truly amazes me that this movie was not nominated alongside "La La Land" or "Manchester by the Sea" for best motion picture. I can not believe A list actors such as Daniel Day Lewis or Meryl Streep passed on this movie. The title alone is so ingenious, and just grabs your interest "gee this movie sounds fantastic, how could I pass it by?". My family and I were just in awe of this pure masterpiece. I have been recommending it to every movie buff I encounter.

Campy, silly, fun. You know why you're watching this one and it will deliver. Better acting than many of the other entries in this genre and the effects were on par with what you'd expect.

Ho hum. Liked the special effects, but the plot and the story left a lot to be desired. One other thing: the skimpy, cleavage baring, skintight get ups the girls wore in the first subs that got attacked by the megaladon were absolutely unrealistic. No U.S. government agency in their right mind would allow their female members to dress like this! Not trying to be prudish here, I served in the military for 20 years and I know we weren't allowed to dress like that!

I did like the film, I wish only Mega Shark was battling another animal. The 3rd film he fought Mechashark. Asylum give the mechanical opponents a rest. I would like to see Lorenzo Lamas back in the lead and get the series back on track.

Corny yet surprisingly effective intertainment. Poor actors but grew to love them. Title pretty much sums it up: cheezy enough to please the curious. Would watch, even anticipate, a sequal.
