I got this bag because I wanted something to make a difficult trip more fun and it seemed rather Hobbitish. I was going to fly from Iowa to California to help my mother-in-law move here. I packed this bag in anticipation and my daughter drove me the 90 minutes to Des Moines. I intended to spend the night in a motel near the airport and walk in the morning. When I arrived at the motel I found that I had left my ID at home, of all things! So she had to drive back and get it. Strike one, as I was on pins and needles until she arrived and then made it safely home. I got up ready for my adventure and I got it. My 5-minute walk across Feur Drive turned fun when the most violent thunderstorm cut loose, and I had to walk anyway to make my flight. The road had no crosswalk, so I had to step into water over my shoes. By the time I got there I was soaked, the bag was soaked. I changed into a dry shirt in the bathroom but my pants socks and shoes were wet as can be. So of course I set off the detector, the bottom half of me lighting up and me leaving big wet footprints in my stocking feet. I didn't get strip-searched but I did get fondled. I then boarded the plane wet, made my trip to Pheonix wet and cold, and didn't get warm until I got to California. The bag is water-resistant to a degree, not waterproof. There was a bit of light discoloration where some of the leather dye seemed to have rubbed off but not much, and it made the remainder of the trip in style.Oh, it gets better! After loading a U-haul and a trailer that I was to tow in a packed Tahoe along with 2 cats and 8 songbirds in 4 cages, I find it has no AC and it's 108 degrees. The door handle is broken and has a wire; when I pull on it it comes off, so I have to crawl over from the passenger side. And no radio. Anyway, in Beaver, Utah a tire on the trailer starts to peel off, so I replace it at a ruinous cost. I make it to Gypsum, Colorado, and one of the reat tires on the Taho is splitting! It is 5:30, only one place open and he can't get the size, an odd one, till morning, and there are no motels so I spend the night in his parking lot. I am off again by 9 am the next morning after trying to sleep upright in a parking lot. I make it to York, Nebraska when the engine head cracks. I get towed to town, spending the night in another hotel. The next day I rent a U-haul, transfer the stuff from the Tahoe to it, hitch up my trailer and make it home by 5 pm. So a 3-day trip turned 5, I bought 3 tires and lost a car. The one thing that didn't disappoint is this bag. I still use it a lot. It reminds me that even though the trip was horrible I met a lot of good people, saw a good bit of America, and arrived safe and sound if somewhat weary. It was my traveling companion through tough times. I hope, if you purchase one, it serves you as well as it did me.

It's incredibly helpful to carry stuff around, and is very comfortable on my back and shoulders, I can fit want i need in the bag, for work! I love this bag

UPDATE: It's now February 2024, just over a year since I bought this bag. I'm pleased to say that other than the minor flaws mentioned in my original review below, I have no more to report! In fact, I've upgraded m my review to 4 stars from the original 3. This bag is a part of my everyday life, as I use it both for travel and as my tech bag daily. It's nicely broken-in and very comfortable to move around with. Still quite pleased.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I like this bag. The fabric is nice and heavy, and the bag feels solid. The color is lighter than I'd expected but I still like it a lot... Far from a deal breaker. However there are some issues...The Velcro closer on the inside pouch started to fail right away because the stitching came loose. I tried contacting the seller before I submitted my review, but they directed me back to Amazon. I didn't put in a complaint to Amazon though because I'd decided that the Velcro closer wasn't that important and I like the bag enough to overlook the flaw. But then, the stitching on the leather on the hang loop started coming loose. Not a "functional" flaw, but an aesthetic one which isn't cool.I do use the bag every day, but keep in mind I bought this at the end of January... It's just mid-March! And that Velcro closer came loose within a week of purchase. So while I love the bag, these little flaws speak to the overall quality level, and I think I would hesitate to buy another bag from those maker. It's a shame because it's a nice piece at a great price. To their credit though, the bag is sturdy and feels like it should last for years to come. So it's certainly not all bad. In fact, it's mostly good.

This bag is making it's inaugural trip with me as I type, and I'm very pleased so far.I was looking for something good looking, reasonably sized for storage under the plane seat in front of me, and with lots of storage options.This is exactly what I was after. It's definitely not big enough to be your ONLY bag in a trip longer than a day or two, but as a supplemental bag it's perfect. All my stuff for on the plane in there, plus assorted stuff for later on the trip, all tucked away in different pockets and compartments.It's comfortable to wear, seems durable, and looks good. I would *maybe* add one more pocket on the back side (up against your back), but there is one there already, which is already one more than any of my other backpacks. And maybe a couple loops for clipping stuff to. But these are minor nitpicks.I plan to empty it and carry it around the various towns we're visiting to carry day to day essentials (sunscreen, water bottle, etc) and to add souvenirs.It's not super quick to open, which works to my advantage here (harder to open sneakily means harder to pickpocket from) but easy enough that you won't be frazzled trying to get to your stuff.All in all, this is exactly what I was looking for.
