Philips All Multi Region Zone Free PAL/NTSC DVD Player HDMI 1080p (Black)

Just what I needed to watch my British (PAL) DVDs. The user manual only specifies that it works with Region 3 (Asia), but in practice it really does appear to be region-free as advertised. I have it hooked up to an American TV with a regular old HDMI cable and, after adjusting the DVD player's default aspect ratio to suit my screen, it looks great. It also comes with a European-to-US plug adapter already attached; works fine so far but I'll probably replace it with a less cheap-looking adapter to protect my precious electronics. The remote control and user interface are rather cheap-looking as well, but if you're after utility and not high-end entertainment-center showboating, then this is a worthwhile purchase.

Comes with Europe 2 prong to USA electrical adapter. Used on multiple DVDs with region codes of 0,1, 2, 4 and All Region. Works great. No issues.

Item seems to work as advertised with non-US disks. I will note that Amazon's packaging was a bit lazy, they should have used a box for this (as with any other electronics). Fortunately the item wasn't damaged in shipping.The dimensions listed on the seller's page seemed wildly incorrect with a listed height of 7", I am assuming these are for the box it comes in. The dimensions of the actual product are a much more reasonable 7 5/8" x 8 3/4" x 2", Depth x Length x Height. Nice and compact.For the huge nerds like me who plan to route the HDMI out through a 4K upscaler, be advised that the player outputs HDCP.

Bought this 7 months ago to replace a Sony DVD player that quit. We were watching the complete works of a director from a combination of VHS, dvd and streaming. It played a couple DVDs so I thought it was fine. We don’t watch DVDs much but I just tried to watch a commercial DVD with a BBC series that was PAL formatted and it would play the menu but not the episodes. I specifically bought this because it claims to be zone free. Then I put in an older NTSC disc and got a message that it was not formatted to play in this region. WTF? Then I put another NTSC disc in and it did play. Nothing in the manual about this sort of problem. Not worth it to try to problem shoot. What a piece of crap. I will find something else and never buy Philips again.

This works OK, and did the job for me in terms of playing DVDs from outside the USA. It is acceptable for the price, which is quite low. the three issues I had were: 1) It does not display any time line when you pause the DVD so you have no idea how much time left, or what timestamp you want to come back to if you want to stop a movie and come back to finish it a different day; 2) It did not come with an HDMI cable, as advertised, so I had to go get another one; 3) I did have a DVD that had trouble playing, but I can't know for sure if it's the DVD itself, or the player. It's probably the DVD that was scratched since other DVDs played normally.

Purchased an LG multi region player first and it didn’t work on a disc from another region, this plays disc from another region with no issues .

I'd been scanning reviews of various region free players for a month and was a little worried because some people clearly got lemons. Thankfully, I was not one of them. This player played my PAL DVDs and my NTSC DVDs. I live in the U.S. and the player came with a two-prong adapter for U.S. outlets. I attached it with the HDMI cable to two different TVs and the color, picture and sound were great. It is extremely lightweight and the remote control is small but useable. It suits my needs perfectly. When I set it up on a counter, it did make a rattling noise. I positioned the player closer to the wall so that one edge was touching and the noise went away. I now have it installed in a media cabinet and there is no vibration or rattling noise. In any event, I am very happy with my purchase and am hopefully one step closer to becoming fluent in another language.

Certainly true with this dvd player. While the price was low so are the qualities of the product. Unlike better players there is no information on screen or on the player to indicate the time remaining on a dvd. So far I haven’t been able to stop in the middle of a dvd, shut the player off and return to where I left off. The disk automatically resets to the very beginning of every DVD. It’s a bit annoying but that what happens when you buy cheap! This one won’t last long with me!

間違ったPHILIPSのプレーヤーが届きました。しかも壊れてまして…返品、返金済です…。※ 追記 ※他の店でちょっと違う型番だが購入しました。コレにカラオケ機能が追加されたPHILIPSのDVDプレーヤーですが、基本的には同じものです。ソニーのDVDプレーヤーとは違い音は比較的におとなしい。画面も解り易い。ソニーのよりもシンプルです。問題なのは、正常でもまるで壊れているようになってます。電源をoffからonにするとphilipsのロゴがモノクロで乱れて映る。そこで適当なDVDソフトを読みこませるときちんと動作します。DVD、CD、MP3等ちゃんと使えます。この勘違いする最初の画面はなんとかならないかと思う。ちなみにPCからファームウェアのDLが出来ます。私のは初めから最新のファームウェアだから仕方ないですが…どうでもいいDVDソフトを１枚用意して、電源を入れてそのソフトを読ませて、セットアップが出来ますね。壊れているのと、そうでないのとがあります。もう１つ変わっているのが電源が入っている時はランプが消えていて、電源を切ると赤ランプが付く。普通は逆だよねー。（笑）ん～～悩ましい限りです。
